Hi everyone, my wife and I are looking at purchasing a Nissan Civilian motor-home with a 4.2 diesel motor and a 5 speed gearbox. We are planning our first trip to Darwin and are wondering if anyone can give us an idea of fuel consumption for one of these vehicles.thanks in advance for any information Dave.
Welcome to the forum from us little possum. Sorry we can't help with your query but hope someone else can. I've never heard of a Nissan motorhome so you learn something new everyday.
I don't know how to convert it, but I'm guessing you'll get between 8-10 kilometres per litre, depending on wind and other factors.
Touring speed should be about 90-100 k's per hour in 5th gear. Do not ever drive in 5th gear when the motor is labouring or you're doing less than 80 kph. Your gear box will thank you.
Pictures would be good.
Fuel prices are reasonable up the middle, considering the isolation.
Diesel at Border Village BP is $2.04/litre. I only have to fuel up once here. Last Wednesday I fuelled up at Eucla Caltex for about 10 cents per litre less. Go figure.
Just get out there and enjoy it. Take your time to get a real feel for where you travel. Safe and happy travels.

I was talking to an owner with a similar size motor home ( not necessarily a Nissan Civilian, cannot remember) and he mentioned that he had limitations on what he could tow via A frame/trailer. You may not want to tow/A frame a small car now but in the future? I would check.
Thank you everyone for your comments they are very helpful to us, we will do a bit more research and let you all know what we decide to do, once again thanks Dave
