After a very rushed departure we are on our way. Day 5 into our journey our travelling companions have run into overheating trouble in their 18 mnth old patrol, its at the repair shop in port Augusta. We are enjoying spencer gulf and meeting other travellers in the caravan park. We free camped at Nyah harness racing club which was great, then free camped at martins bend Berri , then Oororoo and now park at port Augusta. The flinders ranges chewed the fuel but the Bt 50 went great. As did the diesel heater. I just wanted to share our happiness with those that helped to prepare us for our journey.
Good onya Gooba, hope your mates get their tug sorted, glad all is well with yours.
You seem to have travelled a long distance in 5 days, do you have a commitment/deadline somewhere? We found we got very tired travelling so far so fast.
The Flinders Ranges can take weeks to explore, hope you will be able to return to that magic area.
It's all about time. Take it to enjoy where you are. At the rate you're travelling I'm not surprised the tug is running hot.
Please slow down and take it all in. From where you are the Flinders Ranges just about jump out and grab you. Go with it. Feel it.
At this time of the year everything is looking pretty lush, and almost dust free.
I've been parked at Border Village for a couple of days waiting for a job back to Adelaide. Days are balmy but nights are cold.
We enjoyed the phenomenon of a fog bow this morning as the fog hovered. Enjoy!

Have to agree with a lot of your observations. We did do a real lot of miles in the first couple of days. Not what I had expected but as we are the new comers travelling with the others we kinda went with it in the beginning. My husband did have to say it was too much and my companions said it was only to get out of the cold weather. I can't say I've seen much of the flinders ranges, just whizzed through but I know for sure from this taste we need to come back and do it at our own pace.
We are still at Port Augusta as the car isn't fixed yet. It has been a blessing in disguise as we've had time to do our washing and fix a couple of little things of our own.
To those counting down, it will be worth it! Even with the couple of hick ups its been a great experience (a short one so far but a goodie)
