I placed an earlier post re my brakes locking on the dirt.
I now believe my 15 year old Kelsey Energizer controller is faulty.
I have been advised to replace it with a Tekonsha P2 controller. My van is a single axle 1998 Coromal with factory ALCO drum brakes.
Do members agree with this choice.
Are all the P2 models the same. Some p2's are referred also as "prodigy" model, perhaps only for electric over hydraulic set up . I am not sure, if the P2 are all the same, or if the buyer is able to set the (one and only P2 model) up for either electric, OR electric over hydraulic.
Can members please clarify, and tell me if I am going down the right path with this brand and model.
I've got a P3 due to what I've read from Google searches on P2/P3. This is my first controller and I've had no problems with it although I made sure it was wired in correctly. The P3 is on Ebay for $164 delivered and the P2 for $159. P3 has buttons on front whilst P2 has knobs on top. Both probably do the same job but the P3 is the latest update. Go to the Tekonsha website for a full rundown.
The Prodigy/ P2 are exactly the same and are one of the best brake controllers currently available anywhere. The P3 has the same braking circuitry and is marginally dearer, but enhanced diagnostic features. The Primus IQ is a lower cost budget quality unit manufactured by Tekonsha. Ozjohn.

Hi Barry I have the Prodigy P2 I installed it under the recommendation of my auto electrician. Mate very happy with it and I was towing a 19' Coromal with a Holden Colorado. I have just changed cars and the P2 has been reinstalled just waiting for our new Royal Flair caravan and we will be off again. I have attached a copy of the cheat sheet manual for you to look at as that may answer some of your questions or like hako said have a look at there website.
