G'day Margraret, We foster a range of disabled children and will help with your questions if able.   You can send me a PM or ask the question 'en claire' if you prefer.   We've had kids who are in the AS range as well as those with conditions that display autism traits (e,g RAD).

I used to work with kids with autism of varying degrees.

We found always following through and having routines, which a lot of families today don't like, made for the least problems.

Life is so busy today and young people don;t seem to follow routines.

For some children who could read we used lists for different times of the day, and for some we used photo's of them doing whatever was needed.

A calm voice, sometimes a higher pitched voice can escalate a behaviour.

I hope you have been able to have your questions answered Magraret

Cheers
Robyn.
