Darwin transport costs

Hi.  We're newbies and not sure how this all works.

Looking for some input.  We're thinking of a Ghan trip and want our van & truck to meet us in Darwin. Can't be transported on the train. Has anyone had any caravan & car transport experience Adelaide to Darwin?  If so Who and any idea on cost?

Happy travels

John & Mardi

Welcome to the Forum John and Mardi.  We are also fairly new to the forum but one thing is for sure.....anything you want to know, just ask, and somebody will probably have the answer or a suggestion.  Unfortunately we are not able to give you an answer to this particular question but just wanted to say hello.

Hello John and Mardi, a BIG WELCOME to the forum from me to, As someone else on here always says '' Enjoy it here and out there in the playground smilesmile

Re your post i read it properly, ?? and can see you already know, it cannot go on the train, ?? and your asking if anyone knows of another form of transport to get it up there ???

Unfortunately the only other transport is going to be by Road, ?? and that will probaly Not be very cost effective at all ?? IMHO. ? however there is a lot of Truckies on this forum with more knowledge than i, so you may get a better response from one of them ""

Hope you enjoy your time here Happy and Safe travels, and let us all know about your ''Ghan Trip'' Ok ?  Regards  Dazren,

John and Mardi when we did the Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide we used jetstar , left the rig in Darwin and fly back to darwin from Adelaide for $200 each this may not suit everyone but worked for us.

bit similar to brikkies. & welcome to GN's .

Drive to Darwin , fly back to Adelaide , Ghan it back to Darwin .

I reckon it Will be Much , much cheaper than freighting them by road .

min 1 trailer for tug & van , say 16' tug & 23van =39' on 40trailer ==$3k , maybe more.

th sooner you book your flight , th cheaper it will be .
