UPDATE JULY 28, 2013

Sunday

Ok then, time for a day early, final update from Townsville, thank goodness I here someone say. Yep, I have decided to hit the road again and tomorrow is the big day, I will start heading south in the AM. I am ready though so looking forward to the next leg of this journey of mine.

Firstly though a bit of what I did or did not do over the last week.

The week started with some business to attend too, that successfully achieved a visit to Yeoeleven, John and Solo Steve was in order so I spent Monday afternoon with them and showing them around some of Townsville, a very nice afternoon in great company yet again, thankyou to the two of you. They were set up in their separate rigs in a 'Free Camp' at Saunders Beach just a short drop kick north of  Townsville, the funny thing is, I was there about 7 weeks ago and didn't like the the place, very small and very crowded but both John and Steve were as happy as a pig in.............mud. What did you think I was going to say ?

I n this world of Grey Nomading everyone has different ideas and views of places and so it should be like that, if you don't like it, move on to the next place, the person behind you might like it. I have done that myself a few times now, got to a camp, didn't like the look of it so moved on to the next one.

With Monday done and dusted Tuesday arrived and some more business to attend too so off to Centre Link I went, who would be that silly to go there when Grey Nomading, ok  Me, guilty as charged your honour. Some things you just have to do in person. You either  wait on the end of a phone for ages which I hate or sit in a Centre Link office which I also hate but in this case the better of two evils. Personal contact turned out very successful though so well worth the effort.

Now midweek I caught up with Jules47,  Billeeeeeee, friends of theirs (Jan and Bob) and 'did lunch'. Good lunch in good company and a good old chat to boot. It's always good to catch up with fellow grey nomads, did I say it was good?

I have spent some time cleaning the tug and Avan during the week in readiness for the trip south and the colder and more than likely wet weather, it took a few days in between other activities, well I couldn't rush things you know. The tug even saw the polish bottle for the first time. I will have to cut out all this work thing though.

Thursday arrived and as you know I am camped up in my daughters back yard so went to use the supplied amenities block up stairs at this 'Alternative' camp and for the second time now during my stay here it was all locked up like fort Knox, now I reckon I might be getting told something here, woddaya reckon?  Oh well!   Never mind, really I reckon she is just getting me used to having the camp washes again, so camp wash it was for the day. I actually have the camp wash down to a fine art now so all was well.

Due to the 'lock out' I smuggled the back door keys down to the Avan overnight and Friday was spent repacking the Tug and Avan ready for the departure from Townsville.  Tug, van and myself are ready for lift off tomorrow morning.
I have no real plan, just head south down the Bruce then Pacific then Hume and take each day as it comes.

The weather gods gave us a mixed bag of goodies yet again, some days nice warm and sunny then a couple with chilly winds and a little overcast but still no rain to talk about.

No photo's this week sorry, the camera didn't even see the light of day during the week. Besides, I think I have shot Townsville to pieces.

Hi Doug,

Good to hear you are going well, I guess you will be taking a few weeks to wander back down so we should be back in Victoria around the same time (late August for us).

G'day Doug,

we are at Bluewater cp just north of you by about 20 minutes. Very nice park, great management.
We are heading further south on Tuesday Morning, not sure where to yet but probably around Proserpine or Mackay or somewhere in between who knows?

We may run into you somewhere along the track southwards.

travel safe

frank
