San Francisco to Los Angeles

This was a great drive mostly down the coast, for anyone who knows it was very much like the Great Ocean Road south of Geelong in Victoria.  We were looking for somewhere to camp but everywhere was fully booked, eventually found a beach side almost looked like a car park with toilets but no shower or power. $35 a night with ocean views I think is was called Morro Bay. The place was packed with families and kids but by 10pm could only hear the waves.  The ranger had told us about a dump site in a camping park run by the Rangers. So in the morning headed there and talk about big and packed, each site could have 3 tents / families more people everywhere but they smiled waived and said hello. Down the road a bit we spotted a whole lot of beached elephant seals and what fun they were to watch. The little ones were playing, and mum and day were basking in the warm sun flinging sand over themselves, some were still playing in the water kept us amused for way to long, also little squirrels that came right up to you.

Eventually we got to the LA freeway system OMG everything you have ever seen or heard and we were cutting it fine to get the vans back on time or cop a penalty.  The guys dropped us out the front of hotel with all our luggage and STUFF!!! from the vans, we did look a sight and the poor guys from the hotel were just a bit bemused as to why 2 women and a 4yr old were dumped on the footpath.. But they were great and got us inside fine.  We did look a whole lot better when we left 2 days later. They made the drop off in time just.
