Advice on TV arms or turntables please

where do you keep your TV normally Vic
I was thinking maybe a folding down shelf what you can open on the top part on one of the back doors to put the tv on , depending where you are sitting of course
we put ours under one of the bed pillow on the bed when we travel, for me an arm like that shakes a fair bit when traveling

Thanks John, I don't have a TV at the moment, but was thinking about getting one. I do have an outside removable antenna though but it does not have an entry point an suspect the previous owner was closing the drivers door rubber over the antenna lead, can't see any other way he could have got it into the van.

That is a good tip, I didn't think of that. The back door tops inside do not have a lining attached (on the high roof models) I thought they were missing until I looked in a yard with new ones and they are the same, although the lower door ones do have a lining....strange.

I don't want a huge TV, probably a 12V/240V with DVD, LCD, or even just a 240V for CP's as I am not a great TV watcher when away and prefer to read a book.....

Thanks for the info Richard, the Velcro sounds like a good idea, taking the TV off during travel and leaving the TV on the bed under a pillow or something might give less vibration to the TV than if left on the arm, although you'd have to be careful not to sit or lay on it LOL ! smile

Kogan have a good reputation as far as I am aware among the RV population for price and reliability, but I can't speak from experience.

Keep us informed please when you eventually get yours fitted etc,

Vic PS: I did see a 240V 19inch DVD model in JB Hi Fi for $99 (their own brand) awhile back but haven't looked much further yet.

Hi Vic - doing thjs exercise at the moment in a full size van so we can move the TV to a more practical position.

We are buying a 24 inch 12V, TV with DVD through Kogan.com.au - at the moment ( like today ) they have a same spec 19" on special at about $110 - for us a 24 will fit flat against the side wall in a gap beside the fridge and use a longer tripe segment "arm" to come out then 90 deg rotation for viewing.

I am looking at a pair of heavy duty velcro fastened strap to lock the TV into the closed position - the velcoe has vast holding power in shear so looking to have the contact patch in this orientation- still a work in progress - TV weight about 3Kg.

I found an online seller - Cable Chick - http://www.cablechick.com.au/ - and luckily the warehouse is in Capalaba Qld not too far from home & I called in to have a look at one I thought would work to measure it - helpful staff and seem to have a vast collection of odds & ends -

Have no connection with either supplier, just a customer.

Vic, I mounted an arm in our van, bought from Goodguys, double arm but over time (short) the bolts on the arm ( not the mount section) loosen and also the screw at the TV end. Tried numerous fixes over three months to no avail so currently put up with tightening them as required. During transit I use a square piece of foam and fit it under the TV which has worked faultlessly over some pretty average made roads. Would I go this way again.....probably not and if I did I would be doing a lot more research and looking for a money back guarantee if it didn't do the job.
