Beth54 - Hi what has happen to the beautiful murals on the old bridge? I remember my stopover there in 2005 I must have spent most of the afternoon looking at the murals. They were great.
I have posted some to show. Please enjoy.

Fantastic! It's been over 18 months since the flooding and we've been single lane with lights since then. It will be strange to not have to stop and wait.
I agree, Radar, those morals are great. Every town should have morals I reckon. I hope they can figure out a way to keep them. That would be a fitting moral to the story. :)
Does that mean you can or can't go there if there aren't any morals ? I didn't see any sign of morals when I was last in Mitchell, which was last year..........sorry. Couldn't help myself :)
We will be passing through Mitchell in 3 weeks time on our way to Eveningstar at Charlaville. Will love to see what happened
to those Great Murals. Thank you so much for posting them Radar. First trip back to that area for 30 years, this time a bit more
leasurely than ripping through these towns in the middle of the night on my way to Karumba in a Semi Trailer for a load of prawns!
Now it's time to stop and smell the Rose's
Can't Wait.
Cheers
Hi good morning, with the response I got from my photos I thought what are they on about until I got
the brains in to have a look she said spell check didn't work for you.
Like you Pondy I have traveled over that bridge and though Mitchell with out stopping.
I could not come up with a number how many times. I do remember the first time and that was 1974.
I got out of Brisbane the night it was starting to flood to pick up a load of timber at Roma.
On the way out to Toowoomba I noticed there was water laying about in paddocks I was thinking to myself this don't look good. Then more water in Dalby as it was starting to flood. The next morning while I was being loaded the mill worker said me you were lucky to be here and not flood bound out on the road as Dalby was cut off along with a string of other towns I had come though. He added "I don't know how you are going to go south to the border then Sydney to home" Great.
The night I stayed there a the caravan park at the eastern end of the bridge we could here the noise of stock transports
rattling across the bridge for most of the night it was it seemed never ending.
Garykelly I think I will in future send my post to you direct for editing.
By the way, Radar, spellcheck only checks words that are misspelled. Moral wasn't misspelled so spellcheck didn't underline it. If you use a word like moral when you really mean mural, spellcheck is useless. But we all knew what you meant, so it dozen madder.
Thanks Radar, you sound pretty much like Rob and myself. Rob and school didn't go together much either and yep we've had some hard times and like you we are in the pound seats out travelling and having a great time.
I was being polite Radar, unlike these other rude bu**ers!
Just as well you didn't take offence.
I haven't heard back from my cousin yet re the destiny of the murals. Probably will tonight. If you know how hard they work on those properties out there, you'll know that there's no time for gabbing til the works done.
As I've mentioned on here before, my Mum was born in Mitchell and had 10 siblings, so there's a lot of cousins out there. The flood was a terrible shock to the community. But country folk are really good at pitching in and with the help of other outside volunteers, they're getting back to normal.
'No Beth, unfortunately the whole bridge is coming down, murals and all. It is very sad but we need to look forward. I am sure something will be done somewhere.'
So there you go folks. You heard it from a local. Sad but true.
