THE GREAT ESCAPE - WEEK 2

Hi everyone

so were did we leave it?  oh that right we were camping out at Lindsey and Val's Place in Midura waiting for the car to be fixed (again).

Tuesday night Pete decided that we all go out, now remember this is Mildura and the options are limited to say the least, so of to the movies we went and after a vote that i was on the losing end off, the movie chosen to entertain us for the next two odd hours was something about a horse, now everyone that knows me knows that with my name i have heard the phrase 'hi how silver away' many times in my life!!!! ahhhhh, you guessed the horse was silver and the movie was the Lone Ranger. Pete and Teag's loved the movie and i have to agree it did have some funny moments.

Wednesday started slow with a sleep in, and then a catchup with my old friend - pay tv, at about 4pm the phone call was made (again) and the news was not good, the car needed a new fuse box that need to come from Melbourne and may or may not get there by friday, with that look on his face pete suggested to the service man that they use a part from a car in stock and then replace that the the new part, after another phone call or two this was agreed to and the work would be done in the morning.

The next day at about 2pm the phone call was made (again) and the car was fixed and being returned to us at 3pm. Now Teagan and i voted (well just told pete really) that it was time to hit the road and despite the late started we wanted out of mildura (sorry mildura nothing personal we just had cabin fever) so it was decided to head to a little place called overland corner were a pub (cira 1860) was that allowed free camping at the back of it.

After driving for about 2 and half hours we arrived at the pub just after dark (there was that night driving again) set up camp and head up the small ramp to the pub to order dinner and have the traditional Thursday night session. Phil (the publican) and his lovely wife (whos name none of us can remember) were nice people, we had a great dinner and as the night wore on we got to know them move over 'a couple' of quite ales'. They had this amazing looking dog, it was a pharaoh dog of which there are only 648 in Australia, he was very handsome. teag's went of to bed and about a hour latter pete had brought out his 'special' scotch and i do believe all drinks after this were free. Now being the responsible one (well the one that can't drink as much as pete) i pulled him at midnight and was glad the van was parked only 150m away.

The next Three days saw lots of k's and us travel thought Port augusta (one overnight stop here) and up the stuart highway (over night stops just outside of coober peddy and Kulgera). The petrol got progressively more expensive with a top score of $2.20 a letter ( i miss my fuel card). We finally arrived at Uluru and booked into the campsite for the next tree nights.

Lovely spot with clean camping grounds and a view of the rock - the only shock was when we went to get pete some beer to be told we can only by a six pack per person per day and that it was just over $30 for each six-pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that brings us to today, it is currently 23.3 degrees and the sun is shining and we are all wearing shorts :) tonight to dinner (teagan is spoiling us), then tomorrow is a walk around the rock and a visit to the Olga's.

Well that brings you all up to date..

talk soon

love Syl, Pete & Teag's

Sounds a great escape for sure Sylva and nothing like and much better than the movie. With those prices you quoted, happy hour will have to very close by and maybe reduced to half hour.
