Interior Dimensions Toyota Coaster SWB/LWB

Hi folks, my turn to ask a question of any Toyota Coaster owners out there. Thinking of buying a second hand Coaster '93 on wards but cannot find the interior dimensions I need to nut out a layout to suit Sue and me. Plenty of pictures of completed units but no drawings.

Need

the interior length from rear of drivers seat to rear panel.

the interior length from rear of passenger seat to door front post.

width of door

length from door rear post to rear panel.

Hoping someone can assist or know where I can find layout drawings.

Peter

G'day Peter, I don't own one, but I think a couple on here may have them, Yeoeleven does but he is out of communication range at the moment I believe.

The mob below do Coaster conversions on both imported and locally bought Coasters around the same year, I wonder if they could supply you with some of the info you need if you contact them? See;

Already rang them re. their 4x4 conversion but never thought to ask them about measurements. Getting old.

G'day, don't know if this is any good to you; but Isuzu (yeah I know it's a different brand) have an Australian website with an 'archive' section.  This section gives specs and measurements on a 'blueprint' style plan for their bus/truck range going back about 25 years.   I had a quick look at Toyota for an hour or so on the internet but kept coming up with ads for new vehicles so I didn't spend much more time on it.  (probably me pressing the wrong buttons/links.)   Anyhow, it might be worth your while playing around to see if they do it.

For what it's worth.

G'day Ontos45,

I don't know much about QLD reg, but are you sure?   Isuzu 'make' a  Winnebago on 150 'Elf' 7 berth (double over cab, dining to triple and rear lounge to single over and under bunks and choice of 3.1 or 4 0dd turbo diesel).   Also comes with shower, toilet and kitchen.   These are imp to QLD and advertised as QLD (or other if you require) registered from Japan with less than 100k kms (re Japan's emission/older vehicle restrictions).   There's also the 200 series and the 250 auto all with Winnebago conversions.   Or (if able) an Isuzu Pantech conversion (much cheaper).   Mind you, I am biased as I love Isuzu engines.  (Although one of mine is non turbo 4.6 and a bit slow).   Only problem with the 'over cab' double (actually a Queen) is it's a right b*****d to make.  Whereas a bus is easier to make beds but you need the extra length.  Anyhow, I only have the QLD rego bit from reading on sales sites which of course, may be a bit of a con.

For what it's worth.

Thanks Keith.
Prior to this was looking at Isuzu trucks as we were thinking of a truck slid-on but since they cannot be registered in Qld. as a motor home (no cabin access and can be removed from truck) gave it a miss.
My mate and I have Googled, Asked and used every combination of inputs but no joy. Makers of conversions more interested in selling than helping a DIY. Cannot understand why no-one has posted a drawing/layout for Coaster as a popular conversion.
Thanks again......will see what happens

Peter

Toyota prints a Body Repair Manual for every model for use by Panel beaters, giving all dimensions inside and outside, to enable the repairer to "square" the vehicle up after an accident.
your model manual would well and truly be out of print, but you might get lucky
otherwise one of the very large Accident repair shops near you may be able to assist
cheers

Thanks for that.   I notice the first three questions are the salient ones.   'Slide ons' do appear to be out.   What I don't understand is how they register the Winnebagos and similar in QLD when there is a 'crawl through' rather than a walk through from the cab.   Admittedly it might be a matter of degree but I would have thought they would be negated under QLD rego requirements.   As yes, the bed over cab is a bugger.   I'm working on a 'slide out' design to see if I can overcome this for when we become really decrepit.

No problem Keith.
Wondered about the crawl through too, but it was knocked on the head by the handbrake...oooppps....Sue.
Not just decrepit mate, its the nightly waterworks and crawling over the top of your partner.
Going to see a 2nd hand Hino Rainbow motorhome, bit exxy for us but they letting us see their layout as its what I've thought about,, a "L" shaped single bed layout. Gives more room.

G'day Peter.  I was looking at various types before I got the Isuzu.   The Rainbow was a very attractive unit as they are wider than their Coaster/Civilian etc counterparts.   A little harder to kerb park but huge advantages for fitouts.  They appear to have better all round sightseeing visibility due to their (apparently) larger windows.  That may be an optical illusion though. (Get it??  OPTICAL illusion.)  Yeah, yeah, sorry bad joke.

Hi again Keith.
Sue and I went and saw a Hino Rainbow Motor home for sale near us (Emu Park) and found that it's size is what we need as we will be living permanently in it with our dog.
Sooooo.....looks like the Coaster is now off the agenda. Looked good on paper.
The difference in price is a downside, another year at least saving on the pension for just the bus but better than getting something you won't be happy with in long run.

Thanks everyone for your help on this topic.

Peter

Hi smile

You probably know this but the Hino is heavier by a lot and fuel use is greater, and it also requires a LR licence.

Nice size though and better arrangement at the pointy end for a MH.
