Has any travelled the road from Barkly Homestead (NT) up to Cape Crawford then over to the Stuart Hwy around Daley Waters? Any info on the condition of the road would be appreciated.
Traveled the road May this year on the way to King Ash Bay and back thru' Daley Waters.
The road from Barkley Homestead to Cape Crawford is sealed all the way and although a flat drive the road can be uncomfortable tending rough and broken in places. A lot of cattle grids and a lot of cattle.....beware!! From memory about 380 Klms and between slowing for cattle grids and large mobs of cattle camping on the bitumen was not a swift journey.
The cow poo baking on the exhaust system kept the flies and mossies away and the van front took on a fresh shade of green.........
The road from Cape Crawford to Daley Waters is a good 90K/h travel.....no dramas.
Many thanks Ruff, Just completed the trip, it was well worth the effort and was just as you described. On thing, they are very proud of there "Passing Lanes" up here, they let you know up to 50Klms in advance.
