Greens Lake Management Plan

I have just spent over half an hour talking with the owners of the Corop Store. They started to question me when I said I had just come from there after going out to catch up with a couple of grey nomads (pricey43).

They were able to tell me exactly what is going on out there as they want it to stay open just as much as we do. The water company has employed someone to work out a management plan for the lake. No decisions have been made at this stage.

The Corop Store are considering putting in a block of showers and toilets at the store, coin operated they are thinking. They asked me what I had experienced in my travels to get some ideas.

They want the lake to stay open and to work well as it is a big money spinner for them. It is impossible to close the gates just over new years to keep the rif raf out. The police can't properly man the area without the correct jurisdiction?? is that spelt right.

The locals of Corop are trying to work out a set of rules to put up out there which will give the police the ok to cover any misbehaviour, vandalism, etc. They would like any input you all might have towards their discussions.

The person hired by the water company will be approaching them as well for their input.

If you have any sensible ideas that might make it easier for them to make up a program of workable policies you can email them to the Corop Store. their email address is coropgeneralstore@hotmail.com     Use the subject Greens Lake Management Plan and tell them you are a grey nomad as well.

We can only help to keep this great place going for those of us who love it so much and keep out, somehow, the ones who are intent on destroying it.

'HAPPYWANDERER' the PR Manager for Greens Lake, Victoria, is your new title Marj.

I will think of how to word something to email.

Just on the lighter side, the main rule should be,

No dazzling by wombat holes or gypsies.

Marj

What was said re the problem with the police jurisdiction?

if its public land then they have all the laws they need to enforce the relevant legislation. As its open to the public they have the right to enter as per any other place where people congregate.

I would suggest it may be just a lack of resources of the local police.

Im hoping it stays open too as i will be heading up there in a few weeks to test out the new beast :)

Cheers

Brett

I said the same Brett, but they said something about creating the bylaws and posting them at the lake to give the police the power to act.
I thought it strange I thought if the police were called they could act.
The Corop locals are going to hold a meeting to discuss it if anyone on here would like to be involved
They asked me to come but I explained I now live inQld.
Unless they have the meeting after November when a lot of nomads have arrived.

So have people had problems with idiots in the past at Green's? If so, is it at certain times of the year eg: Christmas, Easter or school holidays? Youths? People making a mess and leaving it for others to clean up?

I just get so frustrated when a good spot is ruined by mindless morons and almost everywhere you go these days, there's at least one waiting in the wings somewhereno

I'm planning a trip to Green's Lake in September. Hopefully something will have been sorted out apart from closing the place down. Also hoping that there will be a few GN's about to meet.

It will never be closed down they said.
They main problem time is around New Years with a lot of riotous behavior, the bikes which have been banned but still come and the rubbish people leave behind.
Also the condition of the toilets by some very messy people who hopefully wouldn't leave their own at home in that mess.

That's a real shame! Respect for others has gone out the window these days.

I start up about......... "Back in my day..........." but then I'd be showing my agehmm

Seriously though, I really hope the management can come to a workable arrangement. I'm really looking forward to getting up there in September.
