Solar power

Hi all

I ask this piece of advice with trepidation because its likely, how long is a piece of string, but here goes.

My new motorhome has 300 watts of solar power on it, upgraded from the original 150 watts.

What have others found to be a suitable amount of solar to have for being on the road.

i know it will depend on usage and sun etc but just after a few thoughts, not the ins and outs of a ducks backside :)

Thanks

Brett

Hi Brett,we have 300 watts of solar topping  up 3 X 100 amp hr batteries. It serves our purposes,we are reasonably heavy users of power (12v and 240v),running a 1500 watt inverter  to feed the coffee machine to feed me my caffine. 400 watts  of solar would be nice but in my situation i think it would be an overkill. cheers Peter.

thanks Peter

I have 2 deep cycle batteries and believe them to be 100 amp. Im sure that will be enough and if not then will look at upgrading down the track.

Cheers

hi

Brett, the optimums came with 2  X 100 a/h batteries, which is what we had originally, but in our  situation it was not enough, but with the 300 a/h it is sufficient. Its  like most things in life ,suck it and see and make adjustments as required as we did. What suits me may not suit you.How do like the optimum? cheers Peter.

Just looking at Brett's signature slogan - life isn't about what you do, it's about who you are. Hmmm. I think what you are is what you do. When people ask what you do, you tell them about your job or hobby. When they ask who you are, you tell them your name. Yeah?

The saying is about life Gary and how I live it, not about my job.

A persons job doesn't impress me, its how they live their life that counts to me.
