Just received my new caravan Rego sticker and on the paper work with the sticker states if this caravan is towed by a vehicle that is not Queensland registed they must be notified
Won't matter soon because by the time we pay for our drivers licence [ up 70% ] and other government fees and charges, owning a caravan will be the last thing on our mind. 22.5% increase in power bills as from today, gun licences about 4x the original, no fuel subsidy, I could go on but it's pretty clear I think.

Wonder why they want this information ? This state is just getting worse by the day (maybe could say by the minute ) if that is not big brother ruling our lives I do not know what is. I know a lot of people who share own the one caravan say between three family members and take it in turn to use it. As they all are still working so it is cheaper and more viable to share the one van.So if the van's rego is from NSW and one of the people who is working in QLD with car rego in QLD ,has to let them know they will towing their own van. Just sounds like this state government wants to own us all in every decision we make in our own life...I do not think I would want to live here when I retier from working,due to the fact it is just so expensive to live even while one is still working....But then again the state pollies here just gave them self over $51.000 pay increase per year. So I guess someone has to foot the gravy train.
The green slip insurances ( Third Party ) covers the van and trailers towed by a NSW registered motor vehicles Not sure if it will cover out of state registered vans trailers towed by NSW registered vehicles . Could be it will be used to stop people using cheaper interstate rego addresses

They get you every time when it come to hitting the back pocket.
There is no third party insurance on trailers and caravan rego in Qld, It is covered under the Qld rego of the vehicle towing it, so it would not have a third party cover if towed by interstate vehicle.
Brickies, Your comment is misleading! The Registration Certificate message states "Contact your insurer if towing with an interstate vehicle". Clearly this is their Duty of Care as if this is the case your caravan/trailer is not covered by 3 party Queensland insurance.

Rabbit I am sorry if anyone thinks my post is misleading that was not the intension of the post , But I do believe that if some one was to tow a Qld registrated caravan with a tug which is not registrated in Queensland they may be at risk has 3 rd party insurance is compulsory

ours is only 840kg and single axle .
I pay 60 od dollars for little Cub motor cycle camper what is only 250 kg
It is our first caravan so I can't say if it is good or bad .

In Queensland there are two trailer/caravan registration fees - the cut-off point is an ATM weight of 1020kg - if your trailer/van is under or equal to 1020kg you pay the lower fee, and if you are over 1020kg you pay the higher fee. The fee for over 1020kg allows light vehicles right up to 4500kg.
I have a heavy duty braked 7x4 enclosed box trailer at 900kg ATM, and pay the lower fee for that. I also have an Avan Aliner at 1100kg ATM, so I have to pay the higher fee for that. Just out of interest the Avan Sportliner and Weekender vans are both under 1020kg, so attract the lower rego fee.
