Do you know how many reams of paper I used to have to print out from the computer - just for the record incase the thing died on me - my simple ledger book in the old days was much friendlier:)

Well, there ya go. No comments about the commercial. I thought it was brilliant. Ah! Perhaps you didn't realize the words "who needs paper" in my first post at the top of the page was indeed a link to the commercial on Youtube. *sigh*

Well I had a good laugh at that one Gary!

We get our paper online on the Ipad which means when we travel we can still download and read it unless there is no internet coverage, then we just catch up when we can.

We're with Wombat .... one tradition we have now that we're definitely looking forward to continuing once we're on the road is Sunday mornings with the paper, a big english breakfast and plenty of time to sit and read it at a leisurely pace.

Can't believe I agree with Wombat. I love to spend most of Sunday browsing through the paper. I go out for it nice and early and start reading with an early cuppa then return to it throughout the day. I love the long opinion pieces and the editorials. I know I can read them on line but I never do.

Can't stand papers on the internet. When I'm not working, pack a flask of coffee/tea take the dog for walk down and get the paper and sit at one of tables in our lovely park in the middle of town read the papers and watch the nomads et al go by.

One day when everything packs up there'll be a place for the oldies who can actually add up without having to push buttons. Then again there's plenty of oldies who can't add, spell or construct a sentence either so this comment is probably superfluous.

I've been working with computers since '80, and generally speaking the "roll" is the only paper I use. In the last few months I've even become a convert to "borrowing" my books from the local library by downloading them to my tablet. I still can't help being picky about spelling and grammar in letters and formal documents, but I don't think it matters much in social forums like this aww . As for arithmetic, when I started my career as an accountant it was all handwriting and calculators, but considering that most accountants now charge in excess of $180 per hour, I don't think we want them to use the old ways anymore. With computers I can do on my own what would have required at least 5 accountants in the '70s. Probably why they made the tax laws more and more complicated or else the other 4 would have been out of work!
