Don't worry too much about the goats, as far as hazards go they get out of the way especially if you just give them a blast of the horn; sheep and emus are a different matter at all times as are the scrub wallabies around dusk and twilight. Drive to the conditions and you should be fine.

Don't forget the fruit-fly quarantine point before B'Hill and the next one at the SA border. We found the rest-stops/camps were good on the NSW side of the border but pretty ordinary in SA on that route.

 Fruit fly Quarantine stops in this area a pain in the guts.

We stopped and eat as much as we could and binned the rest. No official in site.

Spent approx $50.00 top up for fruit in Mildura on way to Broken Hill and approx 200ks out, another fruit fly stop.

Not this time charlie.

As if newly purchased fruit would have fruit fly. Just a load of rubbish to make you buy more fruit in their immediate area.

The only thing that resembled fruit fly was around the bins.

We always think this fruit fly quarantine enforcement is a joke ,where there is no humans manning the disposable bins,I would have no hesitation in saying every time we have passed through these un maned quarantine places more people drive through with more fruit and vegies than a green grocers shop. We were behind a 5th wheeler once and when we stopped at a servo they were there with all this fruit in a box ,I asked him and her did the servo sell fruit and he said ..don't think so mate.I then asked where he got his fruit from he said back woop woop ,so it only works if the person is honest and cares about our farmers lively hood.

And most of the time the ground around the bins have more fruit and vegs than the bins have in them and YES the fruit fly is hanging around like a swarm of bees.So if the dept of Ag is serious about combatting the spread of fruit fly ,,man the damn zones. They recon the only time you ever see these mobile officers out and about is if it is a public holidays.

I stopped at a Fruit fly bin on the way down, thin it might have been south of Grong Grong or near there. Certainly not on a border. I stood at the bin and ate my banana then threw the skin in the bin. Thought I better just in case someone was watching. 2 caravans came in while I was there and dumped fruit.

Currently at camps 6 Sa 324 Black Rocks south 15k NW of Perterbough, off to Port Augusta for a couple of days. Did the quarantine things, no one on duty but we had planned it pretty well so no waste.

roads have been great with only a few trucks and as before the animals have been. Well behaved. Watched the sunset at Silverton last night, very nice but with a cloudless sky was no after glow.

Camping grounds at Silverton $10 pp per night unpowered, a drink at he pub worth a visit.
