I have just bought another 3.7kg bottle of gas which lasts me about a week, Swap & Go. The fella at Bunnings said that for another $2 I could have bought 9kg - that's more than twice as much gas! The sticking point is my 2 little bottles sit in a fiberglass compartment under the lounge but above the floor obviously purpose built. Also because of the cut out opening in the top of the compartment I have to go outside to swap the bottles around in order to connect the full one each time. Question: how hard/expensive would it be to enlarge the area to fit two 9kg bottles assuming the floor would have to modified?
Not too hard. The compartment has to be vented to the outside to stop gas build up and fire.See a good cabinet maker or just a carpenter.I would help, but too far away. never mind, Bill

The compartment must also be sealed against gas ingres into the cabin. Ozjohn.

You can also get automatic changeover regulators. I have had them on all my vans, this ones coming up to 10 years old and never had a problem with them, but, you do need to check them as an indicator on the reg changes from green to red when empty. I know that wasn't the question but don't know if that helps you any.

You will probably need a Gasfitter to do changeover and a new Gas Certificate,so you comply with the regulative authorities, including your Insurance company.
