VAST BOX FOR TV

Not really sure as there are only two, The UEC and the Humax I think it's called there is also another now called Satking of which I know nothing at all.

I have the original UEC and have had no problems. It's about two and a half years old so I have bought an aftermarket 12 volt power supply which is easy to retro fit. I haven't yet bought the updated remote which lets you add an external hard drive to record.

I realise it would void any warranty but because of the age I will take the risk. The new TV is an LED which runs on 12 volt as well.

I believe the New Humac  also has the ability to record two programs whilst watching another channel as it has a hard drive and twin tuner, not sure what the power supply is but I am sure a little research at Satplus or Campersat will give that info.

There a re a few forumites here who are very good with the VAST system and I am sure they will give you a much better idea of what is available and how they stack up.

I can only say I have the original UEC and have had no problems with it.

Try this site for satplus which will give you more info.

Has anyone managed to record free-to-air satellite content on a flash drive or external USB hard drive, and then played it back via their computer? I ask this because I have a $30 PVR/STB (High Definition) which I purchased from Aldi and which records FTA TV via a terrestrial antenna. It then allows me to play and edit the recording on my PC using VideoLan software. I'm concerned that FTA VAST recordings may be encrypted, in which case they may not play on any device other than the original decoder box.
