Couldn't help thinking I wished it was country and western, but it was free so can't really complain.  Listening to people in the foyer and the way they dressed, most sounded and looked like they came from our more affluent suburbs, plenty of plums in mouths etc..

Opera still has a large following Gerty, but not my cup of tea, don't think you'd find too many of those I saw today in the RV set!!

You don't have to have a plum in the mouth or live in an affluent suburb to enjoy opera.  I definitely don't fit this description and I do love to listen to an italian opera occasionally, but I don't like those sung in German or English - just doesn't sound right.  Many years ago a friend of mine invited me to go to the Sydney Opera House to see Verdi's La Boheme - my first opera and what a place to see/hear it. I new nothing about the story but I was able to work out was happening and I found myself moved to tears - the music/singing affected me so.  As I said I do like some opera and classical music but I also love, love rock n roll. In fact we have joined several rock n roll clubs over the years and danced our socks off!! Unfortunately, Steve hates opera! But sometimes when I'm alone in the house I pop it on and have my moment.

 Each to their own Kathryn, I do like classical music though and tenors, besides the three tenors, anyone remember the Great Caruso songs and Mario Lanza ?????

We all have different tastes in music, but to me listening to opera ,is no different than listening to a cat howling when it is on heat.!!!

I like some thing I can tap the finger to on the wheel of the 4be while driving and sing along to my hearts content ( out of tune I must add ) The other thing is I cannot not understand a word they are singing ( almost like listening to that head banging music )
