Must have stepped on a Chinaman.

Well they say it comes in threes.

Aircon packed in ,no cooling no heating. Tried the Brisbane Dometic agents, the earliest I could get was end of August. Phoned the installers in Bundaberg (Casey's) who put me on to the local Dometic agents in Bundaberg and it was the following week 18th June.

So far so good, drove the Suzuki 4x4 round to the fish and chip shop for tea. Bang!!! Harmonic balancer gave it away. Now in three sections after the metal pulley came away from the rubber flexible bit.

Genuine part $550 + fitting. No aftermarket parts found, well that can wait till the  aircon is fixed which is now today.

Drove up from Hervey Bay to Bundy. Flat tyre on way..... Bridgestone checked out the tyre, That's OK it's the steel rim Cracked, and you cannot weld them so new rim needed. Yet to find out the damage in $ terms for a new steel wheel. Good bit is the tyre is fine.

Have to wait for a part ( Temp probe) to be posted air express from Melbourne for the aircon, hopefully overnight. None at the Qld Dometic  base.

Well that's my three so hopefully that's it for now.

Might buy a ticket in the OZ lotto tonight and hope for a change of luck.

What great timing this story is. A few people have made inquiries recently about carrying spares and seem to be rather worried about breakdowns, understandably so. Nobody that I have ever known including a lot of mechanics, have ever carried a spare Harmonic balancer.
There's just some things you cannot plan for and it's why RACQ is such a great thing to have.

So sorry to hear about your woes. Hope it all sorts out fairly easily so you can travel happily.

The new rim shouldn't cost a lot a new sunraysia for my Susie was only $43.00 but i wasn't stuck in a strange place and shopped where I normally buy my tyres and got it off the shelve
