No but I have had Rangers call in and check on things. I also had the Police drive through a couple of sites as well. I don't mind either really, at least they check, it makes you feel a bit safer too I think.

Edit......JulieM, just be careful you don't fall down any wombat holes.

no never had that happen, we do stick to the rules if the sign says 48 hours we do move on after that time, no sign, we stay as long as we want to.

Yes at Glenelg Beach, Adelaide. I guess I shouldn't have been there but lying in bed watching TV about 8.45 p.m. and a big knock on the door. Council Inspector. I wont go into the full story, but he was a nice guy, we had a friendly chat and he told me the fine was $200.00.  But he let me off and away I went..

No not me as yet, however like wombat says, obey the signs/rules and all should be well, I assume you would only be asked to move if you were blatantly ignoring any regulations ??

The way I see it is ??? if people like 'wombat' and ' Dougwe ' don't get asked to move then all us normal people should be ok ?  wink  biggrinbiggrin

Got in late to Katherine many years ago in a Toyota Coaster, hadn't been to Katherine before and being dark wasn't sure where to go, so parked in a town carpark.  Police came knocking and said I would have to move on, but told me of a free camp just 5 kms out of town just off Stuart Highway, so moved there for the rest of the night.  No Camps books in those days...

we look out for the signs and obey them, so have not had a problem like that yet.... have been caught out missing a few stops or found some that have closed down so had to stay in a caravan park a few times... but not often :)

Yes pulled into a camp site other people there then council worker came and told us that they were going to tarmac the area tomorrow morning so we had to be out by 8am someone had uncovered the 24 hour stop sign so the council worker said he couldn't move us all on he was very nice about it and everyone was up bright and early and did the right thing the next day. Must have been annoying to the council though when they had covered the sign up and somebody had decided to take the cover off. Helena.

 LOL............... Sorry Herbie

That'd be Graham, a man with a mission!!

Recently he got the overnight stop at Okabelle closed as he felt that "He was losing trade" because of the free camping facility.

How sad!!

Me personally, never been moved on, always stay where I am allowed.

We stayed there about 6 months ago, the ablutions were immaculate and we found it was a very nice place to stay, $25 a night for solo's and $28 a night for Couples, a bit cheaper for none powered sites.   The owner must be a Bali fan, a few Bali style shelters in the grounds.

Found the owner or manager (not sure which) was very friendly and helpful.  He was spraying the grounds for a plague of ants (big ones) when we were there, Hutt River Province also had a problem with them but also kept them under control. http://www.northamptoncaravanpark.com.au/tariffs.html

Only stayed one night before heading for Hutt River via Binu turn off on the highway, stayed there one night also.

Thanks everyone. I haven't either! Just such a hot topic in the forums! I did have a council ranger talk to me but I wasn't camping, just stopped to make my Mum a cuppa.

That was Bagara in QLD a few years ago. I was in a High Ace camper maybe he thought we were camping. I was 58 and Mum was 80 at the time so we didn't fit the backpacker'
norm but the vehicle did!

I am normal Dazren, normally crazy. Don't know about wombat though, think he's just crazy.

Sorry Julie, Dazren started it and as usual has gone off topic. I reckon you should just get Cindy to send him to the naughty room without rations.

To get back on topic, I think if you do the right thing and look for signs you should be fine and not cop a fine or moved on.

I actually have a legal letter explaining I am overtired and can't drive so needed to rest up, if the ranger or whoever wants to get upset and nasty, just ask them to sign it to say they moved you on, I have been told they are the ones that move on then. I haven't had the need to bring it out yet and hope it stays that way.

 Hi Vic
Well that may well have been me and the wife as we were looking after the park all through December and to the end of January.  The Ant's are feral!!  We took great pride in making sure the ablutions were cleaned every day and the BBQ was ready for the next user at all times.  I built the roof over the BBQ, did all the bay marking out, put in the logs and smiley faces with numbers, did the roof over the office and the paving outside when we spent five months there as managers the year before.  The owner LOVES Bali and is married to an Indo.  I t is actually a very nice park, lovely setting and Northampton is well placed and certainly you can get most things you need in the town or 50k away in Gero.  We bought a block of land in town ready for when we a re ready to settle down, yes we love N/hampton.
Anyway, glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay whether it was the missus and I or not.

I think it was Friday 4th May 2012 Mark, we had two campervans and were parked down the back on the grass (our choice), I remember the frogs kept me awake all night as we were close to the drain behind us.   A roof was being built over the paving on the southern side of the ablution block at the time.   There were some roadworks being done on the side road that crossed the drain.  We would stay there again.  Funny if it was you both that booked us in etc, I remember asking what was being used to spray the ants and being told it was the only thing that was any good, damned if I can remember what it was now that the bloke was using.  confuse smile

biggrinbiggrin  What a small world eh!!  Yep that was me spraying and it would have been the missus that took your lolly!!  LOL....................

Lorbspan is the Ant killer.  And I set all the steels for the roofers and the supporting walls and then re-block paved it all.  We were there in 2012 from 6 January until the 21 June, 51/2 months of hard graft!!  Got to say the park looks lovely now, but unfortunately a mini cyclone actually lifted one of the Bali huts and moved it about 10 meters, narrowly missing a few campers on the front lawn, it didn't look to good after that!!  Do you remember Billy the poodle and the bird that my wife was training?  What a small world.
