Met a HAPPY CP owner

Victoria River Roadhouse - NT. He cannot believe how much other place charge - his price is $25 for a couple - and - wait for it -

$12.50 single . I was so shocked - first time I had such a good deal that I thought I was hearing wrong .

Lovely place to stay, bar, meals, grass sites - pick your own, and good amenities. River right there for fishing. Just no internet, Phone of radio.

Stayed there 2 years ago, absolutely fabulous scenery, but the worst amenities  we'd seen. It was $15 a night for 2 people powered.

Sounds like they might have built some nice new amenities, good on 'em

I called in there 2 years ago, they allow use (old ones then) of their showers (pay at the roadhouse) for about 3 dollars, don't know if they still do that.   About 13 years ago, stayed there overnight, they had no nice grassed sites, they were just a paddock, they had these prickly these prickly spike things (not double gees) that went right through your thongs and were a bugger to get out.

Had a car load of locals parked in the paddock, they just sat there watching us and another RV in there, just staring over.  When it started to get dark (we were both getting a bit worried by then and were about to go over to the roadhouse and report them) they took off.

Thanks for the feedback Spida, good to see the prices and the fact it has been done up, the old ablution block had door hanging off and fence wire for the dunny chains, it was in a very poor state of repair, showers were nice and hot though!

$2.50 for a shower if you are not camping there.
Big mown paddock now - although not exactly flat you can pick where and how you want to park, and several large tree also.
I think the ablution block may have been done up - seemed fine to me.
Maybe new management, area is fenced.

Sounds good Spida, it was fenced when I went through and stayed there, but had an open entry, anyone could drive in or out.

I do remember the owners or staff in the roadhouse were very nice.

What a positive post & a pleasure to read. Lets list all the good ones and their attributes and why......the ones that don't get mentioned are poor by default but then we don't have to dwell on why they didn't get a mention......
I don't mean a long list I know that info is elsewhere....just some goodies to aim for when we enter each State....you cant beat recent info from folks whose opinions we can trust..i.e. Grey Nomads.....Hoo Roo
