As we all know, wind is not good for your awning, the material flaps and can be in danger of tearing.
One solution is purchasing purpose made "de-flappers" - not cheap.
There is a cheaper way - called "tarp clips" - we paid 2.50 each in a camping shop for the ones we got, but there are others around, use a bungy strap to attach to the awning arm - we have two on each side - and they work well.
If your looking for a weight to hold the screen down from flapping they also make the Tarp grippers with a plastic bottle lid built in, all you need is a 2 lt drink bottle fill it with sand and there's your weight ready to clip on

Occy straps can be really dangerous if they give way under pressure. They banned trolley collectors from using them some years back as a young guy was killed when one gave way and hit him in the throat crushing his wind pipe and they have claimed to odd eye or two as well in the same occupation. There are a number of configurations that are available, I got mine from Aussie Disposals . Don't worry those so righteous who are always full of advice but will not take any the world is full of them
We didn't have any pressure on the occy straps - just wound them around the awning arm - may come up with another idea, but in the meantime that is what we are using, and it works! Your bottle thingy is a good idea if you are wanting to put a tarp, say at the end of your awning, to hold it to the ground.

Ok I havent used these but saw the add for Peggy Pegs on the home page and they have a clamp in there range that looks like it would work. I have deflapper bars, but they came with a van I bought so I have just kept them to use on our new van. I also dont like occy straps because of them letting go under pressure. I have used ratchet tie downs before instead of ropes but you need the pegs securely in the ground.
