All this talk, they've closed the free camp/showgrounds  Im not going there anymore,  so what, I thought you guys are out there trying to have a good time, yet all you do is sook up.  Eat some concrete, toughen up.  Enjoy what you have got cause a lot of people would love to trade places, there are people that are doing it real tough, havent had a holiday for years, gees.........

I seriously hope that you dont get your back up and black ban me as well.........I, as well as the towns that you are talking of  also have something to offer......

I think your post gives the impression that all GN members are "sooking up" as you put it, some may complain about the closures wrongly or rightly but in the main I think if it is mentioned that a showground/free camp is closed by some it is only to warn others not to include that particular showground or free camp in their travel plans, nothing worse than getting to a place tired on your travels and finding it is closed down, all of us may not be aware of it.  We are a pretty diverse lot with lots of different views on things so should not all be put in the same basket.....

Like someone else eluded to I will go through the town and use the dump point as a member of the CMCA who paid for it  and stay elsewhere.

Totally agree with you geojen. Its not the end of the world , take it easy and enjoy your travels. As if one closed showground is going to stop you in tracks.
Enjoy each town as you come to it
I would love to be doing just that right now

Couldn't agree more. I lived in my car for years in places that you wouldn't imagine and been moved on by the cops more times than I can remember. I've never once whinged about the local ratepayers not providing a free or nearly free camp though.
Reading through the information booklet issued when we pay our rates there is nothing there about providing free camping.

Fair comment!  If your referring to the town I'm thinking of have a look at the fees the CP charge. Ask yourself why a motorhome should pay more than a caravan to stay there. I can't find the link but it's talked about on lots of forums.

Jetj, if you cant afford it, dont buy it, that includes CP accomodation. You gotta buy food, fuel, etc. that all goes up, we all have to budget for it. Duh, Im sure that most travellers with help of modern technology have the next destination sorted. As a semi driver, usually towing a rig much longer than caravan when I get tired I pull over, there are heaps of places.

See it as it is, accept it as it is, forever changing, change with it or become extinct!

A lot of us "play it by ear" as we go, changing plans as we go along.  Not everyone has "modern technology" and in many places modern technology cannot be used (eg; out of range etc).  I am an ex semi driver by the way (low loader distance plant transport).

I understand the point you are making though, perhaps the words "some of you" in your first post might have been more appropriate.

Judging by the look of the motorhome in your avatar, Geojen, you're not doing it too tough.

We all pass on info on this forum, it is not a case of being a sook it is simply a case of passing on information to help one's fellow traveler and as Duh says if you have planned to arrive at a certain destination only to find it closed down it is a case of maybe having to drive on tired and that can be very dangerous.

Gary with due respect, it is really hard to sense cost in a rig. A trakka VW transporter can cost around $80K while some big rigs aren't worth nearly that. A photo doesn't always tell the story or blood sweat and tears put into a vehicle.

GaryKelly, I bought the motor home 9 years ago very cheap because that was all I could afford. A bit like yourself, money was scarce, and still is. I have spent the remainder slowly doing it up when I can. What you are looking at is 9 years work. Again, no different to you, slowly doing up your ute and slide on.
JRH, I hear what you are saying.

Afraid in our council there isn't even anything about providing this area with road grading, rubbish collection, water, sewer or anything else (except the privilege of paying rates)hmm  Don't get me wrong, I ain't  complaining, as long as council and every other official stays away from me I'm happy, that's why I have home base out heresmile

Sorry, but my one hate is when someone says "there are others worse than you" "toughen up" blah blah blah. I am in several web site forums, and this is said a lot to one person or another that makes a suggestion, like this about the town....

Why can't a person just be able to express what they want to say, without someone coming in to tell them to "suck it up" I don't get it, why do you have to say anything?

We all have different opinions, and you can express them without this kind of response. If you have nothing to contribute to a persons post, then don't, just go click on something that you have something to contribute to...

Grams, we all have different opinions, and that is mine, I have a right to say it in a polite manner as nicely as I think I can, just as you have said as nicely as you can for me to shut up.
