Just back from the long weekend at Chaffey Dam near Tamworth. Even though it was a little cool, we still had a great weekend.
There werent many campers there so plenty of room. Much different to the warmer weather when it can be packed. Theres a lot to be said for winter camping.
One reason we usually go away in winter. The other is that it's usually safe to have a camp fire. We've done two winters on a houseboat on the Murray. Now that was great. The boats had gas heating, the river wasn't as crowded and there were fewer leaves on the trees so all the birdlife could be spotted. Great time of year to have a camp fire when moored too.
I'm a frequent visitor to Chaffey Dam also .. as said, it can be a busy spot, but I've always been able to get a good spot .. great spot for pics too ..
