folding boat trailer

Hi, new to the forum so apology if this has been covered before. I'm researching folding boat trailers and all claim to be the best! apart from weight advantage is alloy better than steel?, the models without springs, can they take some mild travel on dirt roads or should they only be used on bitumen?. Any advice would be appreciated in particular recommended makes, rgds RR

I have had a folding boat trailer for years no spings and find them OK for short trips to the ramp ( up to 5k's ) . Like all vehicles drive to the conditions ( slow on rough surface etc) I would think the lighter they are the better. The boat once loaded on becomes part of the trailer integrety.

If I were in the market for another boat trailer, I would probably buy a "Flip n Easy", at about $1600, they are pretty good value. I have an "Ezy Trailer", which does not fold but comes apart. I am thinking about upgrading to a Flip n Easy. Little Bulldog is another popular model, a friend had one years ago and was very happy with it. Just do a Google search on both these brands. I am sure there are others out there too.

Thanks also, I have heard of both types and will check them out. The bulldog is of interest as it seems to fold in an upright position which may be good for me as I have a split system aircon sitting on the rear RHS of the van which would probably be in the way of a long rail. Thanks again for your reply, rgds Eddy
