must places that used to free camping ,that we used to camp in have all but disappeared due to people abusing the environment,Only places I know up that area now is in a few n/ parks but of course they are not free...but in saying about stopping the free camping it has stopped the pigs from leaving the place like a rubbish tip.So I guess it has payed off.

Hey everybody, hope all you guys are having a ball,,I just wanted to ask if anybody would mind giving us some info on independent camping spots in and around the daintree & cape trib????
Been quite a lot of problems with backpackers ruining public parking at the Daintree and around Cairns and northern beaches. The free camping up here was at it 's best years ago. It's a shame because the weather lends itself to camping at this time of the year. You may find a quiet spot at Cape Kimberley but I know for a fact that the locals will report anyone camping at a lot of the public parking areas [ particularly Cow Bay ] due to the wanton destruction caused by backpackers.

If you fancy an extended free camping stay, National parks are looking for a volunteer to man the Noah Beach camp (between Daintree River and Cape Trib). Free accom on a perfect beach in a shady little park.
