strange things

Thought about getting a bicycle for a minute......gave myself a swift uppercut and had another rum.
Now, what were we talking about?

confuse getting knocked down and getting one's hopes of travel dashed sometimes makes one do strage things to fill in the time...when i was an interstate truck driver, (not all that long ago) i would see people on bicycles loaded up traveling all around the place and I'd say to myself from the comfort of my truck, or car, "man they gotta be crazy"biggrin well guess whatconfuse I have jut gone out and got my son's mountain bike that he never uses and pulled it apart fixed her all up and am putting it back togeather and now it's almost ready to hit the road,, oh don't get me wrong I'm not off on the round australia trip by bike or anything, particularly considering it's been a long time since my fat arse was on a bike seat, but for a fleeting moment there I had this thought that why the hell not !!! but I did go and have a cold shower and got over it, but. A while back while staying in a c'van park in goolwa i met a gentleman who did just that though,, he lived in melbourne, split up from his wife, chucked his well paid job in bought a bike and just peddled off,,well not really, he did some home work first,, but he was doing the lap by bike,, had plenty of time so was in no great hurry, and he told me something that has stuck with me all this time,,,95% of the things you think are going to go wrong never really do and the other 5% of things that go wrong can usually be over come somehow...awwno i can't see myself heading off into the wild blue yonder by bike but it does casue paws for thought..

I often see these bicycles loaded with their tents, swags etc, and I too think, no way, I like the comforts of a warm bed, hot showers and toilets. But when I am in awe of them when I see them cycling up those hills and admire how fit they must be. Not for me.

I have just been doing some reading up on these bikes made from Bambooooo ,very light and very very durable and they recon as tough as any other material that is used in making bikes.

I too have seen the bike-riders and thought that's much too hard. But I'm jealous of their fitness and endurance, maybe if I was young...? It would be the ultimate freedom.

I have a mountain bike which I'll carry on the back of PJ when I hit the road. It'll be handy for riding around local areas for a bit of a looksee. As with anything, the more you do it the easier it becomes. I haven't ridden it for a few years but reckon I'll be sweet after a month or so of mini trips.

Well in that case be assured that there are people here who care if you want to vent a bit.

We all have a way to go before we reach a stage of "completeness"

Always look on the bright side, the rest is too gloomy.

Cheers,

Jack
