I add my welcome. I live in the northern suburbs of Brisbane and am pretty much grounded this year. However, tomorrow or Thursday I am heading out to Dirranbandi and Hebel for a few days. I taught in that area more than twenty years ago and decided to have another look abefore while I have about ten days free.

Gday all!. My name is Jim, my wife is Jennie, we have been camping for a while, but have now just purchased a campervan. We started out as motorcycle campers, but that was just too minimalist. Getting too old to be wet and cold. Bought a bigger tent not long back, along with a trailer to lug an ever expanding heap of camping gear. We saw an excellent (we hope) used Hiace just last week, so we travelled 200 klicks to see it, and bought it on the spot. An impulse buy of large proportions. However, we had done some homework, and spoken to other nomads, so we had a fair idea of what we wanted. We both still work in aged care, so we will be starting off with short trips. We are both mid fifties, two boys all grown up and with very successful careers, so we figure it is time we started really enjoying our great nation. We live in South East Queensland, in the RV friendly town of Boonah. Some of you may have visited just recently for a CMCA rally. Anyway, looking forward to having my say in here, and reading about the experiences of others like ourselves. Cheers Jim.
Welcome Jim and Jennie, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I hope all works out well for you both in your new mobile home and see many great and wonderful places in the playground. There are many great, interesting and knowledgable people on this forum so ask questions and have a bit of fun as well. Just be careful of wombat holes around here and don't get too dazzled by them, you never know you might even see a Gypsy.

Welcome to the site - lots of knowledge on here, and also a lot of fun. Great people, who love meeting new members, giving advice, making new friends. and sharing their love of this great country!
Enjoy your Hi-Ace- lots of places to head to from Boonah!

Hi from me to jimanjen,, You have chosen the best and friendliest forum to join, imho, happy and safe travels to you both,
PS if you are into making scones or pavlova's ??? and you happen to see a A-van camper towed by a Toyota Prado, Driven by a Guy named Doug [we ] Pull up ??? HIDE THEM or LOSE THEM ???
Welcome to the Madhouse, Jim and Jen. Working in aged care is such a privilege, you get wonderful advice from the oldies. So many old ladies and gentlemen told me to go out there and DO IT while you are young enough and healthy enough. So many oldies told me they had dreams of travel "later" but something happened and they never made it. So go for it!
Gerty......you are spot on. So many of our residents have told us that they regret waiting to get out there and have fun. We have decided that, while we are both still relatively fit and active, now is the time.
I think most people of our age group have very '' strong opinions'' on a variety of subjects, However you will find that the majority of members here like to keep the forum as it is promoted ''IE'' the friendly, helpful, and knowledgable meeting place for ''like minded travellers'' Thats why it is a great place to come and a lot of long time friendships have developed from members meeting up.
I am sure that when you and jen get to meet some of the members, you to will form friendships, and feel lucky that you decided to become a member of the ''best forum'' on the Net.
So i hope to meet you out in [ Dougwe's playground ?? ] until then have Happy, Trouble free, and safe Travels, Dazren
Perhaps I should clarify my strong views comment. They are only of a political nature. On all others, I really have no issue with what anyone says or does. As this is hardly a political site, you will find me like a teddy bear, all soft and cuddly. Unless, of course, you are standing in front of the beer fridge.......then LOOK OUT!
Everyone has their own views on politics, good or bad, mild or strong, so your not alone there. I just wanted to say I like teddy bears so you'll get along on this forum. As for beer, you get that all to yourself, now if you had of said wine, well thems fighting words
