Hi I have just joined the Grey Nomad Forum for the first time. I need some advise from someone who has or owned a Tilta Tralier and towed a small car behind it around Australia. What information I'm looking for is; towing how much fuel use does it put on a normal 100 klm journey, will the auto transmission handle it OK. Thanks in advance for your advise. Stephen M
Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum,we tow a single axel tilta trailer carrying a suzuki alto, total weight is 1195 kilos. The difference in fuel economy for us with the Jayco Optimum (Fiat 3 ltr turbo ATM transmission)is about 1 ltr per 100ks. We have towed the trailer for 45,000ks with no problems at all.I would expect some difference in the fuel economy with the sprinter due to the way you drive compared to me and the difference in the mechanicals of the Sprinter to a Fiat. The suzuki weighs 895 kilos and the trailer is 300 kilos.Still have the original tyres on the trailer ,and still have many more miles left.cheers Peter.

Steve, I would check the Towball carry weight for your Sprinter, to me they can vary from 100kg to 180Kg and tow up to 1800Kg, but you need to check the specs of your Sprinter and Towbar.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question. I drive easy and usually try and get the best economy out of any vehicle I drive. I thought that I might put on an extra 2 to 3 klm per 100 klm towing the trailer. I will be pulling a Nissan Micra which weighs 1000kg and the trailer weighs the same as yours 300 kg. How do you find it when you take it into caravan parks is there normally any problems with which site you get?
