It depends upon the size of the photos. The ideal size is 640 x 480 pixels. If the photos are too large then it stuffs up the thread. You will see some threads with large photos that stretch wider than the window size. When this happens you have to use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page to read all the text across the page. It's a real PITA going from the vertical to the horizontal bars continually to read the thread. I tend to ignore threads when I see this happening, those posters should get no attention from others if they are silly enough to stuff a thread up like that.
Another reason for keeping the size of photos down is the download traffic it imposes on those of us who have limited download accounts. Looking at too many large photos runs us out of our web allowances before the end of the month. If your photo is larger than 640 x 480 then please reduce it.
Sorry about the lack of knowledge regarding programmes but a search of the app-store should find some.

Not necessarily so Peter, if you use an image hosting site like ImageShack or Photobucket your imaged are not downloaded to the forum server and still come across full size, as far as I'm concerned there is nothing worse than peering at a thumbnail image attempting to make out the detail.
The pic below is only 393kb, it's hosted on ImageShack.

Santa, I note your picture is 800 x 536 pixels. If it had not been reduced then it would have been much larger than that and would I would have to had downloaded a few MB and not around 400 kB. It does not matter what you do to reduce the size by either a hosting service or do it on a PC based programme they should be reduced in size. The only thing you have not done that I advocated was to reduce it to a 640 x 480 pix size which would have halved the size file I would have to have downloaded.

Peter are you acting a moderator or Admin on this site?
Not sure exactly what your getting at, suggest you do it your way and I will continue with mine.
Most Forums advise 640 x 480 to be the best size for posting Santa. As for thumbnails, usually, if you click on them, they increase in size, so making out detail is not a problem.
In any case, all one has to do to increase the size of the whole page, to see things better, is hold down the Ctrl button, then hit the + button, 'till it's the size you want.
Do you need to reduce the size of photos (memory) befor posting on the forum?
if you do, does anybody know an easy way to do it on an Ipad.
thanks
Don't have an Ipad, but I use Prish Resizer .[Google it] It's a Freebie, and very simple to use. [ I need things as simple as possible.]
You just right click on the Pic. select the size you want it to be, and it will put it into a seperate folder for you automatically. As I said in the last post, most Forums reccomend 640 x 480.
