Found a good rest area 6.4km north of the Cania Gorge turnoff on the Burnett Highway. Set well back from the road with covered seat/table sets and flush toilets. This place was suggested to me by the owner of the campground at Cania Gorge when he read my expression on being advised of the camping fees! Best part was the next morning I went into the state forest behind the rest area and found the picnic area at Hurdle Gully Lookout. Access by dirt road probably not suited to the bigger rigs, but it didn't say No Camping and the view over breakfast was great.
