Morning all, can someone please let me know what you need to put in to the field on the online form where it asks the state where you will use the system? If we are traveling throughout Aus, do we have to re-register each time we cross state borders to enable us to receive the new state channels. the way the info reads the channels for the state of registration only are activated. To get the next state where you are traveling, you need to register for that state and the access is updated to remove channels and replace with the new state? if we backtrack into a state where we were already registered, Do we have to go through it all again every time we relocate from State to State?
am i just over thinking this thing??? Once we get this all sorted, we will be tackling the austar side of it all, and may come back for help there. However, i feel once on the road we will probably have contact with other travelers who have already done it and may be happy to give us the benefit of knowledge.
in general, all ready now to do a couple of weeks at Brooms head to test everything and then back home to reassess what we do and dont need before heading north. Intended first stop is Lake Cranbrook for a bit of kayaking and fishing. Cran brook is about 50klm north of Toowoomba, so if anyone intending passing that way or having a few days break, please come and say G'day. We are looking forward to meeting our first fellow GNs. Will also check the get togethers forum for this.
many thanks everyone

When you register as a traveller for the first time at this site http://www.mysattv.com.au/travellers.aspx you would enter the state you are travelling at first. As you change states you can choose to update this via email to this address 'vast.administration@mysattv.com.au' and advise the area you are currently touring. You can do this as often as you like as there is no charge and it normally takes 48 hours. you will receive a confirmation email when the change has been done.
There are basically 3 areas at the moment Eastern states-North, Eastern states- South and Western Australia. The channels you receive will be much the same except for news broadcasts. If you are in eastern states north the news will come from Brisbane if you are south the news comes from Melbourne and then WA news comes from Perth. So you really only need to advise when you change from one area to another 3 times for the whole of an around aussie trip.
I tend to leave mine set on Eastern states north so I can see my local news from home on one of the 400 series news channels(list is on ch 4) the only thing that might be different is the time zone.
We take our A*star box too and I have just upgraded our system so we can get both at the same time without changing from one box to the other. A*star uses the same satellite as VAST so you will already be tuned in.
hope that helps. feel free to ask if you need more info.

Thanks for that Frank, I will now get back to the form and cross that job off the list. Not much left on that list now.......
This forum is so great - we have gained so much knowledge and help ..... Much from reading rather than having to ask .... And when I do ask, the answer or offers of advice are usually only a couple of minutes away.
cheers

hi Denis, you are correct, I realised that after i I posted but when I went back in to correct was too late ... Mind going in too many directions at the one time.
Great site there, cant wait to spend a bit more time there. We have only done a drive through last year and had a cuppa and photographed the Roos. Said at the time that when we finally start our travels it Would be high on our list!
thanks
