Earning on the Road - On Line Surveys

Hello fellow travellers,

I am into the 5th week of my adventure and really enjoying it.  One of the issues I need to deal with at the moment is maintaining some sort of income level so I can fuel up and eat!!  Not desperate but I would like to have something coming in.  I have had a look at those on line survey sites where you get paid to answer questions in market research surveys.  Has anyone had experience with these?  All sounds good but are there any down sides, traps for new players, etc etc. ?

Cheers

Wayne

G'day Wayne, My youngest daughter with three kids is completing a Degree on line however I know she is involved with filling out surveys and although I will have to find out precise remuneration details, my first thoughts were similar to Cloaks but she states she receives lots of sample products to try and also receives money credited to her Paypal Account for completed surveys....she did say that the more time/thought/effort and accuracy she puts into them the more surveys she receives...and I gather you move up the list as reliable survey takers, while she has friends who received no more requests after not putting much effort into their responses......my daughter wouldn't do them if she did not think she was being reasonably recompensed.....she completed one the other night on line while continueing her conversation with me, and getting her kids, my grandkids, ready for bed!.....but we all know how multi tasked/skilled ladies tend to be, in relation to us mere more focused males..!...I'll get details of actual payments she is receiving...what have you got to lose, you dont pay to register and surely you would know after the first survey if it was a waste of time and effort..Hoo Roo.

I have tried a few of these surveys and in many cases when you start the survey you are rejected after the first couple of questions as you are not their target
.
One company that I have been filling in surveys for for a while, I found that the survey may take 30 minutes to fill in when it states at the beginning of the survey to take say 15 minutes and your recompense is $3 for all that time, so far I have accumulated $200 in my account so thought that I would take it out and then found that the maximum I can take is $50 every 3 months it will take 12 month to get paid, this crowd is Pure Profile so be warned it is a complete waste of your time.

Thanks for the feedback folks.  Interesting comment re getting the money out of the account.  I wonder if that applies to Paypal accounts as well?  I will be interested to hear what your daughter has to say goldetectornomad.

You will need to lie about your age and perhaps name as well.

Give yourself a foreign name and be about 32 with 3 kids and a mortgage should do it, otherwise it will mostly shut you down.

Don't forget if you are over 50 you don't count as a mainstream consumer and of no interest to these wankers...

hi yes while i was layed up (sick list) i started to do those on line surveys,,would put hours in on the things,,i never got any money but got samples of products that were of no use to me and to top it off my email got bombarded with advertisments and when i tried to get them to stop it was like trying to put a brick in a post box, not impossible but very difficult,
He's something that might be food for thought for you,,, I read a lot of magazines,,fishing, travel, hobbies, etc,, I started to submit articles to magazines, with photo's as well, I have had success in the past submitting articles to overseas travel magazines, hobby magazines and fishing magazines,,,All i did was buy a magazine from the news stand,, on overseas publication is best, contact the editor-in cheif of that magazine and put a proposal to them and see what happens fro there,, These days with email and such it's much easier than it use to be and the pay wasn't to bad either and if it had good photo's that was extra,, another idea is,,if you have a good quality camera and can take a good photo or two magazines are always looking for photo's to publish, particularly if it's something a bit different ! Good photo's of land/ sea scapes, animals and such are always in demand,, I take photo's of sun sets and so on have them enlarged and offer them for sale at markets or on line on ebay,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just a few suggestions

Hey beachball57 thanks for that input.  I think the surveys might be the thumbs down.  I have been giving some thought to the writing.  Just need to get motivated to do it.

Cheers
