If visiting Kroombit tops or the site of where the resting place of Beautiful Betsy, the world wor 11 Liberator Bomber plane that crashed in 1945, all on board lost their lives.It was not found for many years later. A beaut low cost place to base youself is at Ubobo a very small village in the Boyne Valley QLD. There is a terrific low cost camp area there at the Discoverey Centre for $5 per night self contained or $10 if you want power/shoers/ washing machine .There is BBq also, situated on lush green lgrass and nice shady trees. Close to Lake Awoonga/ Boyndale Bush Camp/and 1hr drive to Cania Gorge.Situated 54ks south of Calliope on the Gladstone/ Monto Road.You can also come in from off the Bruce h/Way at Miriam Vale via Blackmans Gap Road , over the Many Peak Rangers but i have not yet used this way , so maybe if wanting to go that way ask at Miram Vale re conditions of road.The is a general store that sells almost all the needs anyone would need.We stayed here for the Country Muic Week end back near the end of last year and ,,Yes we will be back. Best value around these parts by a mile.
