http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Caravan-Towing-Nose-Weight-Gauge-/181122301493?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D7044772641067754567%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D181122301493%26

Anyone else seen these? My son came across it and suggested it, because my ball weight limit is 75kg. Now I'll be able to check it much easier without using the old bathroom scales. biggrin

My Nipper is under that, but I do have to be careful how I load it.

biggrin They are very good, purchased ours about three years ago.

I place it carefully under where the tow ball goes and gently lower the jockey wheel to get a reading.

Being a European caravan we are only allowed a Max. of 100kg ball weight.

For me, invaluable.

There is a much more sophisticated one available from the UK at considerable more cost, but once again an excellent product.

Many towbars are rated well under 100KG the standard bar on the Outback is 90Kg, HR put out a similar unit but not for $18.00 and it goes up to 300kg ?

Yes, I just get the wheel off the ground by about 1/2inch, so that if I haven't placed it right it doesn't fall far.

Also I should mention it is best done on a flat piece of ground with the hand brake on.

I have thought about making a small wooden pad with a bit chiseled out to hold the bottom in place, but so far have not needed to.

That's right dazren, I know I got a bit slack about it on my last trip. My son had drummed it into me when he was sorting the van out for me. So it'll be much easier now.

Not much good for the majority of vans as it only weighs up to 100kg.
My van mt ball weight is 108kg. Loaded 210kg.
I use a bottle jack that has a weight guage attached.
