A plastic garden rake is handy to take along on any travelling adventure. We use it almost every stop we make to free camp to rake the mess up that someone else has left behind .I t just helps to make the stop over more enjoyable ,not having to step over rubbish ,and helps the next camper to enjoy it .Just our little bit to help keep these free camp stop over's a bit more enjoyable. And it also makes us feel like we have payed our dues for the privilege of staying at a free/ low cost spot.
X 2. We do the same. A lot of times when we are camping in the bush, we have to clean up around the area. Bottles and cans left behind in fireplaces etc.
You used to be able to buy a metal lawn rake. The rake part would fold up like a ladies fan. i've been looking for one to leave in the boot for the same purpose. When I ask at a hardware store all I get is a vague look.
I carry a pair of BBQ tongs clearly labelled 'NOT FOR FOOD' that I use to pick up those suspicious little strips of white paper people leave behind trees.

Pete, we've got one of those. We got ours from Crazy Clarks. Also seen them at SAMs Waerhouse
I must keep an eye out for one of those folding rakes. Don't have a lot of room for things like that. Already carry a broom but thats for washing Myrtle.

Some times one does not have the choice not to camp where there is rubbish left from some grub,Try camping across the Nullabor, now and if you don't clean your camp, well it is like camping at the local tip.
Not a rake, but those trigger handle picker uppers are great to for picking up rubbish, also good for picking things up from the floor or behind objects etc.
These are usually sold at the cheap items shops or disability aids stores etc.....

We purchased a fold up rake from Aldi's some time ago for about 10 dollars. However aldi as we know brings things out from time to time and do not regulary stock.
I bought an army shovel, it folds up and goes in a bag, it also has a pick and saw on it. So a multicombination tool, plus it's small and easy to put in the tool box. I got it off eBay, it's very strong.

Good Idea, I like that one. Off to Bunnies tomorrow for a plastic rake, I also like the secetuers idea, and the picker-upperer, like Willow I'm fed up with finding those discarded pieces of white paper with funny imprints on it!! I got the sovel/pick/saw/ etc. Good post.
