Free camping on Gold coast

I am looking for some where around the Gold Coast to stay for short time. It will about middle of May or end of. Can anyone help out?

Thanks Bob

I live 'up the road' from the Gold Coast and I doubt there's a free camp anywhere on the Gold Coast.

There are a few nice places in the Hinterland around Canungra.

I have it on good authority that Jacobs Well is a good park. It's a nice quiet out-of-the-way place on the bay. I believe the price isn't too bad either.

Stott's Island Nature Reserve is not on the Gold Coast but only a few kms away I have stayed there a couple of times and my comments are below:-

James Sharp Park near Canungra is a good spot. On the banks of the Coomera River. It was $6 / person / night about 6 months ago. Tiolets, no showers, suitable for big rigs. It's busy on weekends so turn up through the week to get a good spot.

Cheers Pete

I'd heard that James Sharp Park could be a gathering place for some ferals, but these few ticks of approval prove that wrong.

Maybe whoever reported that, was there on a weekend.

I'll have to go and check that one out myself. Nice day trip for me, then on up to Tamborine.

Yes the caretaker at the time set up his coffee selling van and sold to the campers.

He was there both times that I visited but who knows who is caretaker now.
