Hi Junior, if you type into Google ICE in case of emergency, you'll find information that relates to who should be contacted if you were to be involved in an emergency, it's stored in your contacts list in your mobile phone, and I believe it's quite a common practice. I have it in my mobile just in case, but I'm sure there are other methods that are used as well but it doesn't hurt to have "all the bases covered". Cheers, Annie

Where do people keep a copy of emergency contacts and other important info" My thoughts are glovebox & sun visor. Is there other spots that emergency workers would look? I have a brief version on acard in my wallet but that is not on me when I'm driving.
The QUOTA clubs (in Qld) at least, have a small plastic pouch with some stickers for the windscreen, and a form you fill out with relevant emergency info - they are sometimes put into old film canisters - either contact QUOTA or some Visitors Infos have them.

Thanks peoples. I just typed all my relevant details, contacts, meds, DOB, etc, in a Word doc and saved it to a USB flash drive which is now attached to my keyring. It's a Lexar drive housed in a clear plastic box. You can remove the drive without disconnecting the box from the keyring.
Hi all ,while reading the threads re emergancy info , it got me wondering regarding Ambulance cover for people on the pension?? i have private Australian cover ,but i know some private health covers do not offer Australian cover ,they only cover for the state you live in.Strange but true.!! So what i am asking is if you are registed in QLD regarding address for pension ,does it cover all of Australia.?

Herbie
If you type ambulance into search there are several threads on the topic
went and did some looking at ambulance cover (don't have any at the mmoment). There is a site that explains the state differences. PrivateHealth.gov.au look under the Health Insurance tab. Another site (No Boundaries for Aussie Nomads) has a lot of information but is only accurate to February 2012, but you can bet it has got no better.

I seem to remember this coming up quite a while ago herbie, and I'm sure that you were covered Australia-wide at that time. Don't know if things have changed since then though. Apparently not.
On 1 July 2011 the levy, paid through electricity accounts, which supported the Community Ambulance Cover (CAC) was abolished.
The Community Ambulance Cover legislation is still in place and will continue to provide all Queensland residents with free authorised ambulance services throughout Australia.
If it is the persons intention to return to Queensland within two years, and they have not established a permanent residence elsewhere, then they will still be considered a resident of Queensland.
If a person is away from Queensland for more than two years and is living in a permanent residential arrangement (including in a travelling caravan), they will not be considered as a resident of Queensland. This is the case regardless of whether they are enrolled in a Queensland electorate or whether it is their intention to eventually return.
If a person no longer has a principal place of residence in Queensland or takes up residence in another State or Territory then they cease to be a Queensland resident and will not be covered.
Thanks Beth. That last sentence could pose problems for some people eh ? I didn't read the whole thing through. But at least you get answers to various Questions.

Yes, could be a problem for some. I found the Q&A very easy to follow. A lot of government type sites are so complicated, I can't be bothered trying to decipher the info.
The reason a posed this question regarding Ambo cover was because the daughter inlaw is one of the local drs out in Longreach, and she was saying while we were all away together at Easter, that a (as she put it ) Grey Nomad got very sick while up there last year ,and because he can from Victoria there was a ooow arrrr regarding him not being covered with ambo travel. I will ask her more regarding this matter next time i am talking to her.She was talking about it while it was happy hr ,so my ear was in other places.
Herbie in Victoria you join up with the state ambulance fund which covers you Australia wide. If the Victorian in Longreach wasn't an ambulance fund member then they wouldn't be covered.
Have checked with my hospital fund which does provide some basic ambo cover and if that gets used I will then join our state service. Also some extras packages provide cover but the best bet is the date organisation as that will cover throughout Aust.
