When we were away recently, we dutifully sent 2 letters to each of our mothers. The 2 mums live in the same town, a block from each other. The first letters were sent from a mailbox in the street in Gooloogong. One Mum got hers in a few days, the other Mum got hers yesterday - it was dated 16th March and she got it 2nd April! The second letters were posted at the Post Office in Tumbarumba. The same Mum got hers a week later, the other Mum is still waiting. Those letters would have been posted on 21st March. I realise Easter is in the middle of the second postings but if we hadn't sent the letters at the same time to the same town we'd think nothing much of it. So where does our mail really get to along the way??
Gerty it would be even weirder if that was the case here because this Mum reckons she knows the postie - friend of the family. But yes, it would be interesting to ask what they think the reason is.
Had a cheque turn up (years ago, in the days of writing cheques) 12 months after it was posted - had of course, cancelled and written another one!!! Go figure - it just arrived in the mail one day at the place I was paying!

I sent a letter to WA for a well known gray nomad ,it took two and a half days, iwas waiting for my nomad stickers,Cindy told me when she posted them they took two and a half weeks,from Coffsharbor to Geelong but Easter was in between ,they may do the big lap first.

Well I know of one case about missing mail that is true, a relative had a bush block near their house and observed a postie going into the block and coming out with an empty bag. When they went to investigate he had been dumping mail behind bushes on the block.
They reported him so I assume he lost his job. This was quite a while ago though and would be the exception. Most posties do a great job albeit the occasional letter in the wrong box, usually by a holiday or sickie relief.
If I've had mail go astray I haven't been aware of it.
My sister bought 5 pair of shoes while in NZ. We walked out of the shoe shop and into the Post Office next door so she could post them home. That was last Thursday. We have had Easter in between. She went to the office today and they were sitting on her desk, would have been picked up from the Aus Post in yesterdays (Wed) mail. How's that for quick postage.
