WA Get Together - Whiteman Park - Tuesday 9th April 2013 - 10AM Onwards - Dogs allowed on leads

Ok, Whiteman Park from 10AM onwards Tuesday 9th April 2013, suggest when you arrive go to the Vistor Information Centre (see map on left legend on link below, also other info) and get some brochures on the park and also ask where the Grey Nomads are, I will tell them when I get there so you will be able to find us. I will hang an Ozzie Flag near where we are to help find the group, we will be in the main area. Dogs on leash. The map will show you where the dog exercise area is at another spot in the park if you want to let them off (some distance away at another picnic spot).

We will discuss a May caravan park get together while there, for those who can't make it we will post updates on this thread after the picnic.  Looking at Dwellingup C/P or maybe Harvey, both allow dogs on leads.

Please see this thread for Whiteman park, look at the side tabs for further info;

http://www.whitemanpark.com.au/visitorinformation/openinghours.aspx

Here is a couple of pic's of me, one taken at Whiteman park, so you know at least one face to look for (damn, that Wombat has been at my photo's again);

If not booked we may be able to get a shelter there. Suggest bring lunch or there is a nice cafe there also for food, drinks, icecreams etc. Bring chairs, own food and drinks, and meat if you want to use the BBQ's in the picnic area.

Thanks John,

Our is only a day meet (ok to park RV's in the park if passing by) to discuss a pre-winter get together at a caravan park in April or May, down south, possibly Dwellingup or Harvey, both who allow dogs for those who have them. smile

Hope yours goes well too John, when I see the Greens Lake posts I sometimes wish I was on the other side of Oz too or passing through that way! doh

Good way to meet other and put names to faces, also always a chance to come across them again in your travels, or catch up with some if they are displaying a sticker etc. smile

PS:  Anyone who is going as well as BYO whatever you need, please bring fold up chairs in case you need them.

The predicted weather for Tuesday is fine at the moment, so lets hope it stays that way !

Here are a few of the attractions of the park, if you don't have time for the get together, just pop in to say hello even for a limited visit!

Would love to make it, but His Highness the Specialist has summoned me to an audience Tuesday morning and I must obey!

An outing to Harvey would be interesting, as I grew up there in the 1950s and indeed started my career on the Harvey-Murray Times.

Cheers, Tony

Enjoyed your company last time we were there Tony, if your appointment finishes early and you have time to just pop in and say hello you are most welcome.  Hope the specialist appointment goes well.

Yes it is a great spot Harvey, for those passing through turn off to the dam for a nature break or morning tea, nice clean modern toilets and beautiful picnic spot.  The dam is only a kilometre or two in on a bitumen road and a bitumen parking area.  You can drive to the top of the dam too where there is another parking area.

The rest of the town has many attractions and I enjoyed staying at the Rainbow Caravan Park last time were were there.  A good possibility that this may be the spot chosen Tony, but may also be Dwellingup or some other place depending on what the majority and Jayco Gypsy decides.  Apologies to those who prefer free camping, but some GN members have pets (not allowed in a lot of free camps etc) and some prefer power etc, so trying to find a happy medium for all.

I urge anyone able to attend Whiteman Park on Tuesday to do so, even if just popping in for 15 minutes or so as the subject will be discussed there, but preferences are most welcome here too for those not able to attend.

Thanks to Cathy, who let us know, I will pop in to meet you good people. Child-bride (Jane) will not be with me, sadly, because I'm working, and Jane has to take our dog Jessie to the dentist........

 Thanks John,

Only a handful of us turned up, but a lot are away on the road or have other commitments so that is understandable.

WA GN members are encouraged to attend future events if possible to show their support so these get-togethers can be ongoing.

Those of us who did attend had a wonderful day, sun was shining but plenty of shade and good company.

Jayco Gypsy (Cathy), Magic Bob (Bob), Ogre (Owen and wife Glenda) and Duh (Vic & wife Carol).  We all had a good time and enjoyed each others company and hope to do so again some time.

Jayco Gypsy will be organising the next event which will probably be Dwellingup in May when the WA school holidays are over, TBA by Cathy later.

Thanks to those who attended it was appreciated.

PS:  I did take some photo's but stuffed them up, so unless I can retrieve them somehow I can't post them, sorry.

Great meeting you both Owen and Glenda, hope your trip inland north goes well.

Unfortunately I stuffed the photo's up, the camera was on video and not having my glasses on I didn't realise it.  Mostly shots of the floor and roof etc, can't work out how to convert them to still pics but trying to.

Best wishes,

Vic & Carol
