Just work out what you are talking about on the front page of GN site , That click is a like button if only you want to , The Grey nomads website must now have a Facebook page by clicking the like button it put the site out there so more people know it exist

Thanks for the feedback everybody. We're still slowly feeling our way in Facebook and working out the best way to use it. I think it became obvious that if we didn't get involved we risked getting left behind. Hopefully, it will be a great way of reaching a whole new grey nomad audience and will further boost the strength of our website and our forum. I know that many forumites will already be big Facebook users but understand that many others aren't ... and don't want to be. That's all fine. We just wanted to have a Facebook presence. I certainly didn't want to 'exclude' non-Facebook users from the 'show us your Boabs' photo fun, Wombat. Really, I just wanted to have a bit of fun and also increase awareness of our Facebook page at the same time (plus I absolutely love Boabs!). As I say, we're still feeling our way with this and will work out the best way to integrate everything. In the meantime, please feel free to post a pic of some Boabs on the 'Sharing Photos' section of the forum ... I'd love to see them! And, all you Facebook users ... please 'Like' us here https://www.facebook.com/thegreynomads1

Hi all,
The rumours are true! The Grey Nomads are now on Facebook. We have actually been on for a while but are just starting to build it up a bit. We hope that it will be a way of reaching a new audience and attracting more people to the website and the forum. If you are a Facebook user, please take the time to pop by and ‘Like’ us.  We occasionally have a bit of fun on Facebook ... and that is why we are asking readers to show us their boabs.  Have a look at our page here:
https://www.facebook.com/thegreynomads1
If you click on ‘Posts by others’ on the rights hand side you will see some of the boabs that have already been posted. To posts a pic, you need to sign in to Facebook and then click ‘Photo/Video’  on the top left away you go! If you have any problems, please drop me a line. Thanks, everybody.

 Hi Cindy,

please do not think I am against you being on facebook that is your choice, just as it is my choice not to be on facebook, however I do believe you are not giving all of your current members on this forum a fair go, why did you decide to put this boab topic on facebook only?

There are a lot of current members who are not on facebook.

Regards _wombat_

I won't be liking The Grey Nomads on Facebook. It is the one and only place where I can vent without my kids reading it, lol. Seriously though, they have their sites they go into that I don't and mine is the same.

I've discovered all sorts of great sites on facebook... my family barely gets a look-in nowadays.
Theres "Outback Beds", "Corner Country Outback NSW" , "Ron and Viv Moon's Remote Australia" (They are in Alaska at the moment!) "Australian Parrots and Birds", "All in a days Work"(Outback station life), "Birdlife Australia", "Avaaz", "Weatherzone", plus a few of more personal interest. The Grey Nomads facebook page is there too, love it!

Hmmmm....that proves I'm dumb, right?    Well, I asked and I got the answer, well kind of. So the Boab and the Baob are both trees with the Australian Boab being a favourite photo on the GN website. I should read what's on the website more and not be so dumb. Thanks Gerty Dancer.  I've since searched more and almost all has been revealed.

Good Luck.

As a guess, I'd say he worked for the Bureau of Meteorology chasing weather balloons and reading thermometers ?

Spot on Chris, and also showing GN's over the station - anyone who visited the Met office at Charleville, Townsville or Mt Isa in the past may have met me. Anyone passing through a town that has a staffed Weather Office, call in and say hello, it gets pretty lonely sometimes and visitors are always welcome.

Regards

Denis
