Kingaroy Showgrounds Camping

Has anyone stayed at Kingaroy Showgrounds recently? What is it like?

Also any advice on freecamping spots between Toowoomba/Dalby/Kingaroy.

There is quite a nice free camp outside Kingaroy at the Soren Hansen Bridge on, the Stuart River. Turn right just past the golf club and go a couple of miles down the road - the camp is just before the bridge on the right hand side.

I've heard that Kumbia has a great butcher if you need meat.

Apex Park in the middle of Kumbia is an unbelievable campsite. Power (donation), hot showers ($2 for 3 minutes), neat/tidy campsites and a very interesting town to inspect. You need to provide your own drinking water but who cares.

Cooyar is another great spot, between DALBY, Kingaroy or Towoomba, close to Bunya Mountains, great spot on the creek, Free Camp, power available, pay at the pub. Good pub meals if required. Stayed there a few times, we stayed there last Wednesday night on way to Easter in the country held at Roma.
