I prefer to get my water from a separate outlet located well away from dump points for this very reason.

I have made up a length of hose with conections to fit on the tap ,so i do not have to do this,I never fill up from dump poing taps seen some gross things people do.If it means i have to buy water i would rather buy it than ever use a tap any where near a dump point for this very reason.Have seen people even shake the waste over the top due to being filthy in their habits. Also had to get sticks to clear toilet paper away from sitting dryed out over the tap. Yuk yuk is what i say to these people. I can understand why people protest about dump points being placed in their area when you get grots like this. Makes it bad for all of us.We have even had to splash disinfectant all around the area before we could use some of them.

Sounds to me like these people like to pee in their pools and wash their hands in the toilets...yuk.

I think I might have disposable gloves handy for emptying the toilet cassette, and no way would I ever think of using the tap near these dump points for anything like drinking. I'd rather go to the local park or playground and use the water tapes there.

Thanks for the heads up.

We don't ever get water from a tap near a dump point - never know what people do there.

In St Helens, Tasmania, there is a nice little overnighter, with a dump point, it's own dedicated tap, as well as another tap, clearly stating "drinking water" - but there they were, two caravans - first one empties his cassette, then goes to the ":drinking water" tap to clean it out, while his mate empties his unit - then they swap over - needless to say we did not get water there!!!!! There is another tap on the way out the the Bay of Fires, on the side of the road.

 Gday...

The issue is not about whether one should, or should not, utilise the tap for rinsing cassette near a dump point to obtain drinking water.

The OP was that a 'camper' used a drinking water tap - nowhere near a dump point - to rinse out their cassette.

Thoughtless bars-ted one would think h c n

We ALWAYS use our own hoses EVERYWHERE.

Problem with dump points is you normally have to unscrew their fittings if you want to use your own hose - if I have to I do and I wash my hands in antiseptic before touching our hoses,,, it works if you need to.

Agree there are grubs out there,,, but remember they touch things in bakeries/supermarkets/servo's etc ALL PLACES WE GO. So you can get the bug there too.

We always keep a box of disposable gloves in the van and use them when useing a dump point,as even if they look half ok, you never know who has used it before you and how they have used it.

I am always shocked by the number of people that leave a public toilet without washing their hands.....

The dettol gel is a great idea Cloak .

I was reading somewhere a while ago that  toilet doors are one of the worst places for germs , so it's great

to wash your hands for sure , but then you are likely to get a mitt full of nasties when you open the door

to exit the place .

Just as bad as dunny doors though is the old supermarket trolley . Traces of faeces on the handles of over 70%

ot trolleys tested .
