Cant wait for Aldi to open on the west coast (only two years to go )

Most of their prices appear to be 50% of what we pay here !!!!

We don't have one anywhere near us in SA. Though I think one is going to open in the city.

There's one in Taree on the NSW mid north coast. Been there for about a year or so now and I still haven't seen the inside. Got a huge Bunnings as well.

What do you think of the heater?

I'll be lining up before saturday opening for that one and the jacket and maybe the portable BBQ too.

And bugger, I spent $65.00 for a fire proof security case at bunnings last month. This ones the same and at half the price.

Be careful with the fridge. It is only an absorption cooler.   We have friends who have one.  Not that wonderful.

I think a lot depends on who makes (in China) the imitations/clones, some of those are poor quality to say the least.

However some big companies are based in China and the quality has to be first class to protect their market.

We got the portable toilet... it leaked.

Rang them and they sent out another one ...... it leaked.

Went to Bunnings and got a washer to fit inside the lid........ it doesn't leak any more.

Everybody says, when talking about imported caravans.. "But are they made for Australian conditions?" This applies to imported Aldi stuff too.

Just about everything that you buy for camping or caravanning is made in and imported from China.

As the old saying goes; one only gets for what they pay for, but gee when every thing is made in China these days it does make it hard to purchase quality stuff that is going to out live us.And then again we do live in a disposable society ,so we just make do with what they produce .

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the quality of most of the stuff made in China.

Yes Aldi is PRIVATLEY owned by a very weathly German family. We have no problem with the ownership so long as they continue to offer great products at competitive prices.

When I was a kid growing up (yeah I know a long time ago ) when I thought of China I thought of rice paddy fields, women in the fields giving birth and going back to working in the fields, probably watched too many old movies on TV...........now I think when you get off the plane in China, these really HUGE factory doors must open and just keep going and going and going, they seem to make every thing that is used and consumed on this Earth nowadays, really does my head in.

Aldi here in Seymour have what they call a "Caravan Annexe" - it is a curved structure that attaches, somehow, to the caravan and goes down to the ground - $79 - might be good for small motor homes and the like, or even a rear entry caravan. Has a privacy panel as well from the look of it - didn't have one set up, so just going on what is on the box.

There are apparently two (Albrecht) Aldi brothers - they own two different store chains - one each. Aldi Nord has Europe's stores and we are part of the other lot - Aldi Sud. We have never had any problem with their products and they always give a warranty.

Yes Aldi is a German company - but how many of our well known and trusted companies are owned completely or partially by overseas interests. A lot of the Aldi stuff is sourced from Australian companies - fruit and veg, meat, bread etc.

Anyway back to topic - the Seymour Aldi was pretty busy at 8.30 this morning - people walking out with generators ($299), BBQ's, 3 way fridges ($299) - got the water bags I was after, as well as a heavy duty plastic mallet for pegs - $2.99 each!

The have blow up mattresses, tents, picnic blankets, thermo cookers (like Dreampot - $99), tableware, cookware and a heap more stuff - worth a look if you can get into one.

Yes... we went to Cooma Aldi and got ourselves a portable heater at half the price we saw them last year in camping stores - and those stores were sold out or the manufacturer/supplier couldn't get enough of them. Haven't used it yet. ($49.99). We're happy.
