Portable Electric Single or Double Hot Plates - Normal or Induction?

In regards to using portable electric hotplates, which is best, the normal type hotplate or the induction one? confuse

You pay a lot more for the induction one but is it worth it? confuse

PS:  I also have a gas cannister stove for use when not on power, but am not comparing with that.

I have a portable induction cooktop , It is great for slow cooking has well has high heat , You can get the heat level down to such a low heat without any fear of the food catching and burning would not be without it must have induction cookware to test if yiour cookware will work on induction you use a little magnet sing which stick on your fridge, if it stick to your fry pan on pot it will work on induction cook top

Mine is a cooktop rather than a stove but quite portable and cost me less than $50. Even cheaper now around the online Ebay and other traders. The fan is quite loud and I don't use it a lot so can't know about longetivity. My normal SS pots seem to work on it.

I still love the portable cartridge stove particularly when no power.

jetj, I think I did read somewhere that the portable gas stoves heat better than the electric and a lot faster, thanks.

I have one at home I bought for about $60 have used it continually for almost 2 years and just love it, quick clean.  You do need the special pots and pans but they are becoming easily available I have non stick from Coles Wiltshire brand.

An induction hotplate magnetically induces heat into the cooking pan or pot. They are more efficient than the normal hotplate or element and the stove is cool to touch if there is no pot on it. You must use pots and pans that are steel, magnetic though...

I use an induction stove in my bus.

One of the best appliances I have as it cooks stuff so quick and you can select the heat level you want. The only problem some will have is it starts at 1800w and it then has to be turned back so many will not have the inverter or the battery power to run one.

Would run of a 2kva generator though.

The little Bunnings gas stove are a great backup and the cost of the gas is very cheap. Get two if you want two burners or buy the Aldi one which has a double burner.

Regards
Brian
