Bike rack

Hello Everyone,

Jude here,  have a query regarding bike racks we would like to take our bikes on our trips away, they are only short trips at the minute but looking ahead for much larger trips. We would like something for 2 bikes, something legal and something cheap, can anyone here help out with information, links, prices please.

Many thanks

biggrin

Cannot help re what bike rack to buy, just make sure when you fit it , your set up dosn't obscure  your number plate ,the police don't like it ...just ask the people who have found out through this .

rolla racks make a good bike rack,, they make a single, double and a4 bike rack,,,my wife has then at her exhaust and tow bar shop here in adlealide but am not sure how much they retail for,,,a lot of 4x4 shops also have them,, best idea is to take you car to the shop and test fit one before you buy that is what we reccomend for our customers,,,bring your car in so we can test fit it,, it also depends a lot on where you want to fit it,, ie to your car or the back of a van or something,,, there is a style that you can fit to your tow bar and still be able to hitch up your camper trailer or caravan ect depending on how much the tow bar is rated at and how much room you have between the back of your car and the front of the van or trailer,, to fit a bike rack to the back of a 'van depends a lot on the back of the van and how strong the chassis is, but it is possible with most vans and camper trailers

We have a Yakima sparetime on the back of our caravan it attaches directly to your spare tire's mounting bolts for secure snug fit. The mounting bolt is lockable. Ours is for 2 bikes and when not in use folds down . We just love it,makes the van a little bit longer but hey really,as long as the bikes are safe. Cost us $295.

Hi buffy61

the van is not at home at the moment so I have taken a copy of the page in the book it is a bit light in colour see how it goes.If not I will try and take a proper photo asap. I have just made a hole in the tire cover for the mount to pop out of.
