a very interesting place to pull into for a real history lesson and scones to die for is Oakabella homestead about 30k out from Geraldton WA on the g/ n / highway. Facinating place to call into.It is not one of those made up museum places where all the stuff is brought in from all over the distric, this place is like waking back in time. You can also camp there showers/ power/ water. About 7k south of Oakabella on east side of highway we found a beaut spot to camp for the night 200 mtrs down Howatharra road on left side it is the site of a old school site.No facilities. But off the road and very safe. And free.

We also went and had a look in at Hut River, but did not stay there. Now that man is a clever cookie , beating the system re the tax thingo. He even prints his own money.Wish i dad one of those machines out the front.Noted that John did not think much of Oakabella , we are interested in history,so different strokes for different folk i guess.( or maybe it was because he got hit on the head by one of the ghosts that lurk there ) Now John that was just a joke .

Yes Vic I did stop over at Oakabella last Easter, not being particularly interested in heritage I was not overly impressed. In fact I left early and moved on to Kalbarri on Easter Friday, luckily I was able to find space at the PCYC overflow area. My report with pics follows:-
Prince Leonard (Casley) was also aircrew during the war and was involved in bombing the Japs in the Islands, and also took part in their later surrender in that area. And he is a Rhodes Scholar as well. Took on the Federal Government and won.
I did the tour too herbie at Oakabella and found it most interesting.
