Pole Carrier..Warning for inferior product on Eprey.

no..I have just purchased an RV pole carrier advertised on the popular auction site. Just want to warn anyone considering this totally inferior and poorly designed product which is not fit for its intended/stated purpose and being large is not easily returned for a refund. I have just corresponded with another purchaser who is likwise stuck with this unusable/unsuitable pole carrier.I paid $85 plus $30 carrier fee and whilst the photo makes it look like the 'real deal' and seller states it is the result of testing on his own RV's through the years, and only ""superior"" components are used, here are the details of this Rubbish Product: Seller: Campaquip. One would expect at least one end to be threaded or hinged in some way. The weak thin PVC end caps have to be hit/prised off. The freehand drilled holes are not drilled accurately by jig & are very close to the edge so each end only fits one way to line up and will invariably readily break in use as poles hit the end caps or the pin which goes through the pipe very close to the edge....They actually break/split before use when you attempt to prise off these thin PVC end caps for the first time..I believe they are inferior stormwater PVC pipes and much stronger sewer PVC should be used for anthing which had been "designed and tested over time/usage"..... this 2m pole carrier is poorly designed and not fit for the purpose intended.....you get what you pay for in life however price was not my consideration I thought I was purchasing a finised product which was the result of years of testing on their own RV's and using superior materials...unlike others his blurb states....don't waste your money and like the other purchaser who also has a pole carrier he cant/wont use states... we are off to Bunnings to obtain quality components to make one ourselves......

Please be warned. I have left negative feedback which I rarely ever do to a seller as I realize the ramifications..., however he has not even had the decency to reply to my questions re his products' obvious defects, and is still advertising them and like no doubt others who have been caught, it is too large/too much bother for the price paid and to pay carrier another $30 to return his garbage product to him for refund of purchase price only..... ....  Hoo Roo...

Sorry you did your dough. All my pipes and accessories from Bunnings. Half the price. (pvc pipes)

Even made my own lock set up.

Most camping stores and dealers RV shops sell the type you describe, with the two holes, push on caps and a pin. They also come with brackets for the A frame. They are the only ones I have seen. I had one for years and yes they can be a PITA to line the cap and holes up and to get the cap off, mine lasted ok but not the easiest item to use, sometimes using the edge of a bit of wood to put against the edge of the cap to tap it off.

I also made one myself and fitted the threaded end with a cap which was much better, but still stuck a bit sometimes. I have also seen home made ones with a flap and hasp on them for a padlock.

Agree, on previous vans I've had substantial threaded cap and also lockable hinged flap and hasp...both very serviceable for the purpose and lasted for years of constant usage......I broke this flimsy toy just trying to lever/tap off the very thin end cap.....I would have been happy to pay more for the quality product this seller stated it was and the result of much practical experience/design.... just dont want anyone else being caught as they are almost an essential item for annex poles and few fishing rods etc...the photo the seller shows has a more substantial end cap and the pin hole appears much further back from edge....it does serve one purpose ..as an example of how not to make it IMO....Hoo Roo....

Bloody terrible M8.
If your product is not made in China; I take the following back re your product.

China products R-****!
How many times have I purchased from Eb*y products that do not *&&%^* last long or work.

Often when I am ****ty I write to the Chinese embassy in Canberra pointing out that..
.... US & European products are far more superior than Chinese and add..I truly hope the Chinese Military buy Chinese made products.
Why?
Because we in Oz will hear Chinese tanks A-coming by the clunking and groaning and tank-defecating of ex-Australia resources AND because of they (Chinese) will have a trail to follow, when going back home.
Tell your army to be sure not to leave their scrap metal laying around Australia as I might get a puncture when 4wd-ing..

I dont know why but not one reply from said embassy??

I still buy Ebay stuff because I cannot afford otherwise and so emails continue towards Canberra; bit like an assault eh..

Even I make my own, I haven't worked out how to make them locking ones though. I would love a close up pic of one to see how they lock.  I picked up some PVC tube outside someones house for a council cleanup.

Had a look at the pole carriers on the auction site and looks like they are plumbing fittings adapted to use as a pole carrier. For plumbing you would want them to be a neat fit and water tight, but for pole carrier use you  would want a bit of play. A screw type fitting I think would be more user friendly for frequent removal. I made mine up from fittings from Bunnings and all OK
